How would I identify what is or isn't a board for a newbie.
I'm just getting started with wakeboarding and I am looking at the Liquid force team 134 at the moment.
I'm 112p and 5.5" |

Although I have never ridden a team or really looked into one. I hear that it is actually an intermediate/advanced board. You can always look on the internet at any number of website's board guides; they usually give some good info. Keep looking and enjoy your new board and the addiction to follow.
I hope this helps. |

team looks like a sick board. if you ride enough you will progress and then it wont matter whether its an advanced board or not. id say get it _________________

Alright, noob boards are usually rounded around the edges with a large center fin. They usually have a small continuous rocker
The team is a good intermediate/advanced board. It has a large continuous rocker and 6 fins with the 2 center fins which are removable. If you ride with the fins out it will be a looser/more advanced board that makes you rely on your edges to cut. It's a good board that will allow you to progress. |

| ive never actually tried the LF team but it sounds like a really nice board. I've read alot about it and its true what the others are saying, it is an intermediate/advanced board. i dont know if this is the best to start out on, but it is doable. good luck |

Get a board with rounded edges and a soft continuous rocker. If you start out learning fundamentals on an aggressivly edged board, essentially it will stunt your learning progress. You need to start small and move up. Generally I would go with any kind of starter pack from any of the big brands. Hyperlite makes some nice starter boards that come with spin bindings. However, if you choose to get board+bindings seperatly- Make sure you get good solid bindings with ALOT of ankle support....we don't want any broken ACL's ! _________________ Crownsville Wakeboard Team |

| I heard Hyperlites are quite heavy... will this be essential for a beginner? |

Hyperlites arent any heavier than any other brand of board- Plus a heavy board could be good for you. When you get good and get a nice light board you'll fly. _________________ Crownsville Wakeboard Team |

okay it seems like people are a little confused lets see ifm i can help you guys out. okay there is no such thing as a noob int. adv. board these are just ratings given by the manufacturer similar to weight ratings : they are guidlines not rules. An advanced rider could really like what the manufacturer calls a noob board and a noob could really like an adv. board. generally noob boards have rounded rails that dont catch as easily on surface tricks, small continuous rocker, big center fin, and several other minor traits while an adv. board would have 3 stage rocker sharper edges, and smaller outer fins. when you want to buy a new board find one that you think will fit your style(the best way of doing this is by demoing but you can get a good idea by reading reviews and manufacturers descriptions but these are too often heavily biased) and your size(also you do not nee to follow manufacturers guidelines if you like a small board get a small board same for a big board).
now for weights. they are only really important when you start getting inverted. the board begins to fell heavy over your head and is harder to push around. if you are just begining you will not notice a pound or so difference. |
