I used to waterski, then I got into wakeboarding and it's WAY better. Still like to do it here and there though. When I go out to the lake or something I usually find myself bringing the skis.

Anyone that thinksk water skiing gets 'boring', never skied well.

You want a rush? Learn to ski. Nothing like hitting the wake at around 65 mph to get your blood going.

Heck yea. I compete in slalom. It is as addictive as wakeboarding, but an entirely different sport. It is much more technical, precise, and regimented. Just about the anthesis of wakeboarding.

I run INT competitions in MI. The slalomers are there early, warming up, setting up their skis with jigs and calipers to reflect the water conditions. Everyone knows where they are at in the rotation, not one ever shows up late.

Wakeboarders almost always are coming at the last minute, never give a thought to board setup on site, and we have to announce each class several times to get the riders to the starting dock. Most of the riders don't even know all the tricks they will throw until they are out on the water.

It is easier to run a slalom tournament. I would prefer to hang with the wakeboarders. I get the best of both worlds and love every minute of each one.

I stopped waterskiing when I started wakeboarding a few years ago but picked waterskiing back up last year. I grew up with waterskiing too and I still like to ski on occasion, but I like wakeboarding more.

My dad makes me take a "Token Ski Ride" once every year. I always get up and have a good time & then start trying W2W jumps and trying to ski it backwards, which actually works. It's always fun but I just make fun of him the whole time. My brother is a pretty good skier & I will agree with Leggester, it's pretty awesome to watch a good skier rip. I was at Canyon Lake & watched them tear the course up all day, pretty impressive. No matter what anyone says, wakeboarding decends from skiing(as well as the board sports) why do we try & deny it?

I love to wakeboard but I still throw on the single ski every now andd then and get some turns in. It is much more taxing on the body though and I probably only go about every fifth time out to the lake. It is fun however watching a single ski guy that can rip. Cool

yea my dad use to be very good at slalom and i grew up on that, but once i started wakeboarding i barley have enough energy to try. Hes 53 now and can still rip it pretty good, even though the water conditions arent very good where we ride. (Salt ocean).

I like to have an occasional slalom run after a day of wakeboarding but just because it's fun to carve at 30+mph and throw up a huge spray. I usually only ski 1 or 2 times a year.

I skied years ago before I discovered surfing and wakeboarding
We skied up in Wasaga, home of Wakestock.
Have not skied since I was 14 or so now.

I love to board, but nothing like beating the hell out of a Slalom ski at the end of a good day.... I board more but skiing once in a while does no harm. Cool

I still do, once in a while. I don't want to lose it. But I catch a lot of sh%& from some of our crew when ever they see me bring my ski.

Yeah, I definitely still ski, got into the course last year and it' s very addicting. You know, gotta get that speed fix every now and then!
I probably ski 1/3 the time and board the rest
nothing wrong with mixing it up
