don't know if anyone has posted this but.......I was wondering if fins make quite a difference when wakeboarding? I just started yesterday but when i got to thinking....I didn't bother to put those fin things on underneath.I have two...one front....one back.Ive' seen boards with more...does the number of fins also make a difference? I finally got up and rode the board a good distance today .I found it easier to start in the water for me. |

Glad to hear you got up and riding!
Yes, fins help the board track in the water, so the board ends up being a lot more stable and less slippery. _________________ Pat McCarthy |

the bigger the fin the more "grip" or control you have, the smaller fin the less "grip" you have. For starting out I would suggest the biggest fin you can get so you have more control but keep in mind that a larger fin is less forgiving for instance when doing surface tricks like butters or surface 180's hence why the pros are starting to only use the molded fins and no screw ins. so the choice is up to. good luck. _________________ There are few things that are greater than wakeboarding. |

| fins make the biggest difference in the world. i started out with massive fins on my parks board (1.3's) and they felt huge. it was good at the beginning but when i started getting better and better i realized it was too grippy and it was easy to catch an edge. i changed them to the .7's and the difference is amazing. surface tricks are way easier and landings are more firgiving. hope i helped. good job getting up. |

Leave the stock "big goofies" on there till you learn to use your edge to track your approach. It'll make you a better wakeboarder in the long run. Once you master a nice progressive edge and you can land in control, go ahead in invest in either a smaller center fin or a new board with twin side fins. _________________ Crownsville Wakeboard Team |

thanks for the tips.......I did find it hard to control my board once I was on the surface. I found my fins when I was going thru a box of mine and thought i should ask about it.Found no other place was better than here. |
