CENTURION BOATS ANNOUNCES THE 2nd WORLD WAKE SUFING CHAMPIONSHIP TO BE HELD IN SPRING OF 2003
In the early 1990’s, Rick Lee, President of Centurion Boats and his R&D crew were developing the first wake board boat to be offered to the public. One of the criteria was that the boat create a wake so big that riders could surf behind the boat without a rope! “We actually came up with the name WAVE for our 1st wakeboard boat because we were surfing behind it” Rick said, “We were having so much fun that we felt that there could be a market for the sport of Wake Surfing”. In 1995, Centurion contacted Rusty Surfboards, packed up a Wave and held the first World Wake Surfing Championship at Mission Bay in San Diego, CA.
This year’s contest will boast prize money in excess of $10,000 dollars. Planners anticipate the event will be held in early spring, in San Diego or Lake Powell, AZ. “ This will be a cultural phenomenon, something completely new. We will take surfing were there is no ocean”, says Lee. “After seven years of waiting, the sport of wake surfing has now come of age and is destined to become the next exciting board sport. We feel that wake surfing will take the country by STORM.”

| that's awesome, but i'm not so sure it will be a 'cultural phenomenon.' i'm not knocking on the sport but there's only so much you can do on a wave the size of a wake.

datd be helll!!! I wanna try wake surfing even though i cant surf  hehe umm I cant watch those vids coz im at skewl... fu**ing gay computer teacher has blocked all downloads   Anyway Ill check em out when i get home!!!

yea I think wake surfing could get pretty big ... just not me u know ... notmvein fast enough .. Im all for speed and gettin air

| you never know, it might, alot of people thought wakeskating wouldnt get anywhere, but look at it now, i tried the wake surfing once, i had a hard time getting stood up, but i only tried like 3 or 4 times
