Well yesterday I had my meniscus reconstruction and it went alright although not as predicted. It turned out that the damage was more than they thought it was, 2/3 of my meniscus where ripped and displaced. The doc thought it wouldn't be such a good idea to leave me with only 1/3 of my meniscus so he actually put the teared bit back in place and he screwed it there with 3 screws made of this polisacaride stuff that gets absorved. I was lucky because it ripped right where the meniscus ataches itself and it turns out it actually has some irrigation there so it's going to reatach itself but since irrigation is quite poor, it's gonna take a while. I've got 3 weeks with my leg inmobilized and then a lot of therapy waiting for me. Doctor said I have to take a 6 month break from sports that are hard on the knees so I guess I can kiss this year's ski season goodbye. I just hope it'll be alright and that next summer I can wakeboard.. The only thing I can think about is how scary it's going to be to board again.. I'll be so scared of injuring myself again.. if that would happen my mother would kill me. Anyway, I thought I'd share the experience with you guys.
