|
|
This might be a stupid question but has anyone put poly fill in there tower cans? Im running 4 Samson polished cans with the Infinity 6.1 6 1/2 Inch Perfects in them. I know 6 1/2's are not known for low end. Feedback would be great. thanks _________________ Im sick of seeing these posers with 50k boats who can't even wakeboard. |

I know pollyfill is used in sub boxes to trick the woofer in thinking its in a bigger box. But on the 6 1/2's produce hardly any bass. So what Im asking is if anyone has done this before, if so did they see a big difference? _________________ Im sick of seeing these posers with 50k boats who can't even wakeboard. |

If you are talking about a completely closed can - the dynamatt and polyfill will dampen a lot of the action behind the speaker - putting out more sound up front.
As for bass, no I they don't rattle the bass, but the midrange at high volume will/can be felt if you put your hand around it at high volume.
Remember, you are not trying to re-produce the music from a band hall.... too many other variables to contend with - engine sound, water splashing off the boat, etc. _________________ Visit my DIY Projects

I've never used Dynamat, how does it work? and with the polyfill, do I just fill up the can? Tight or loose? Seems like you would use one or the other but not both. _________________ Im sick of seeing these posers with 50k boats who can't even wakeboard. |

Scratch that, I used Dyna sheild. Same thing except it sprays on. Fill the can half way with poly. Should be adequate. Dyna mat dampens the tiny sound of metal cans. Poly gives the impression that the enclosure is bigger. I don't know why... _________________ (insert funny chit here) |

Can't answer for sure, but I imagine they are too close for the untrained ear to tell in an outdoor environment. The idea is just to deaden the tinny sound. Hell, you could probably get away with using the spray foam and just trowel it out inside to a 1/4" thickness and it would work fine. I just used the spray so I could cover the entire inside of the cans. _________________ (insert funny chit here) |

| Use the spray, it is much easier to use than the sheets. I have worked with both. on relatibely flat surfaces the sheets work great, when you start working with "inside" contours or cans then the spray is super easy to work with. Make sure when you buy the canthat it has not been "tested out" (i.e no one has sprayed it in the store to test). I had a couple of cans that were "tested out" and the dynamat clogged the tip after it had cured... try to use it all at the same time (within a couple of hours) and spray upside after using to lessen the clogging effect. This stuff works great, i did 4 of Rauls cans with one spray can of dynamat and they do not sound tinny at all. |

How much coverage should I put on with the spray? Thin or heavy coat? Biz did you use Polyfill also after you sprayed the Dynamat? _________________ Im sick of seeing these posers with 50k boats who can't even wakeboard. |
