I know this is a wakeboarding forum, but i've had a question i've wanted 2 ask. I've wakeboarded for a while, but my friend evan brought a wakeskate with him one day, and i tried it. lets just say i didnt do that hot. well, my friend andrew skateboards alot, and he got up easy and was actually pullin a trick or two his first run. For anyone that has wakeskated or has friends that do, do you think to do good wakeskating, you have to be able to skateboard well because it's the same concept and tricks?? _________________ ~*rAcHeL aKa RoCkEt*~

hyperlitehoney16,
I don't believe so. I have never skateboarded in my life, I can;t even stand near one much less on it without falling. And this doesnt effect my wakeskating at all. I'm sure it does help some, but you dont have to be good at skateboarding to be good at wakeskating. |

| yeah, I don't think you need to be able to skateboard but it would definately help. It will help all of your sidewayz sports actually. I picked up skateboarding about 3 years ago to help with my wakeboarding in the off season. It's worth it. It will help you a bunch. Expecially for learning how to ride switch. |

I think that it helps qute a bit if you now how to skate like to understand the fundamentals of like the tricks and stuff and being comfortable witout the bindings but I think if you work hard enough at it you will do fine...... _________________ Cadillac Crew Productions

| it helps if you skateboard if your going to try tricks like shuvits and flip tricks, because you need good control to catch your board and the right time during shuvits and flip tricks. But as far and riding and jumping you can still wakeskate fine without being a skater. |

skateboarding and wakeskating, have the same relationship as wakeboarding and snowboarding... similar, and mey have their plusses for doing both, but they do not decide how good you are. _________________ Keep Austin Weird |

I'm decent at skating & I suck wakeskating. Most of these guys have it pretty much dead on, it helps but it doesn't dictate how good you're gonna be.
Learning how to do pop shuvits & kickflips is probably easier if you know the mechanics of the move on a skateboard, but you should be able to learn it without skate experience as well. I can safely say that being able to ollie has no bearing on whether or not you'll be able to get air off the wake, it took me forever to get that. |
