Im by no means the man of the hour on wake jumps, so I have some questions. I can take a consistent W2W with smooth pop and steady board control, but when I land it seems to be 50/50 weight and I bounce off, I cant seem to absorb the landing and ride away clean. I have a Cassette Concave 41", definitely above my skill level for w2w, but what have you others done to dial in wake jumps? Absorb more right at impact? Exaggerated heel heavy? Suck board up more on the jump?
I would appreciate some real life situations, Ill send you a bonus once our water isnt 45 f-ing degrees |

try not cutting to hard in the wake, you want to have a good cut where you land on the downside of the wake. but if that doesnt work, try bending your knees a little bit as your coming down. _________________ the difference between comedy and tradey. a tradgey; if i cut my finger i will complain and complain. i would go to the er and get it fix and get stiches. . if someone is walking down the street and falls in a sewer and dies, thats comedy. |

Yeah, really soft knees on the landing will help. Pulling your knees up off the wake will help you have more control just before the landing as well. One thing I like to do is inside-out jumps. Just get a little pop off the inside of the wake and practice landing with lots of knee bending and edging away. Once you get your first couple, they are pretty easy.
I agree with you, Aaron is a great coach, I was lucky enough to ride with him at the wakeboard camp. He taught me a couple shuv-its and other things on the skate. |

Thanks for the good notes, and anyone else please keep em coming!
Agreed about coming down soft and on the heel edge, I think Im concentrating on 'stomping the landing' instead of absorbing it, and im getting bucked off the flat spot with my legs too extended on impact. I have yet to stick one but every one feels super smooth and in control until I land, then I get bucked. |
