Well I went out last night and tried a couple of both backrolls and tantrums, night before I tried a like 5 backrolls. Well my mom videod and on the tantrum I keep doing a tantrum to blind. I dont want to do this, how can I stop that rotation? Now for the backroll, I am pretty sure that on the second half of the rotation my board hits the rope and rips it out of my hands. I've have a tramp and can do both on it no problem, but its totally different for me in the water, can anyone help me. Any tips would be appreciated.

wakensurf4life,

first off thats cool that ur trying more than one invert, ull progress a lot faster than normal peeps who dont try but one and thats if they "feel like it" but anyway on the tantrum my guess w/o seeing the video is that u are turning to blind cuz u are taking off the wake on ur edge, u dont want to do this!! its really important to try and have ur board parallel to the wake, then u have to make sure u wait for the wake to through u, trust me u have to wait a lot longer than u think, the wake will throw u over.. this technique is called the trip flip edge or something but that dosnt matter.

review:
start out 15-20 ft
make a progressive cut
right before the wake, start to point ur board to the boat and back to the wake
at the same time let go of the rope w/ ur back hand
stand tall at the wake w/even weight in ur feet
wait....wait...wait...then it will kick u and spot ur landing.
if u overrotate let the handle out a little, if u arent getting around keep it more in and u will spin faster...
GOOD LUCK

hey wkbrdmdw....on you review, what do you mean about "right before the wake, start to point ur board to the boat and back to the wake" do you mean when i go off for say...a backroll, the I need the board facing more towards the boat than the wake?

Thanks for the advice wkrbdmdw, I'll go out today and try to stomp it if I can get som gas Mad Hey and powder, from what I have read, you hit the wake way different on a tantrum, the way he said above, than a backroll.

Well I finally stomped the backroll after about 5 more tries, I finally got out again, thanks again for the help. Now all I have to do is get the tantrum. ONCE I stick that what should I move on to? Toside frontroll, hs or ts 540, and a r2r were kinda what I was thinking.

Well if you have your spins down toe and heelside id say try a scarecrow. The wake throws you over and they are one of the easier toeside inverts. Other wise try toeside backrolls or mexi-rolls. thats what i did. Bang easy on the tramp them stomp it on the water. Good Luck.

Yea i'm having the same trouble with my tantrum as wakensurf4life...I've heard time and time again to straighten my board out right before the wake but how do you get sufficient "POP" to throw the flip? Every time i try it, i end up slowing down...on my backroll, I'm still yet to land it but i'm coming really close...I actually overrotated a few yesterday which is saying something with my boat with a small wake and no pylon or tower...any suggestions on sticking landings for a backroll?

Well I've stuck a few more backrolls and have almost landed a hs 540 off a double up. Then yesterday I tried a couple of ts batwings off of doulbe ups just for the hell of it. And I came extremely close to landing them, all I need is to hit the double up a little bigger and I would have it. I'm landing on my board but more so on my front foot so I just cant hold on. Anyone else on here find this trick to be farely easy?

K well that batwing is F'ing hard as hell to do. Guess I just got lucky a few times and came close. Well I went out and tried a few tantrums and stuck it on my third attempt, why I havnt tried these sooner I dont know. But I've stuck some toeside 3's and have landed one 540 but then fallen after bouncing around for a little bit. Just thought I'd update this a little with my progression. Also went for a scarecrow today and totally ate it. Any help on these?
