Whats your recipe?

Last year at the Colorado River several companies were giving the stuff away,, and having a boat full of cute young girls = we got enough freebies to last the summer.

Now I have to buy the stuff and it ain't cheap.

Any homebrew slime remedies/recipies?

Other than just buying it (by the gallon for me) you can use liquid dish soap, shaving cream, or KY jelly. There have been arguements many times in the past (look up binding lube in search) and some people have their opinions about dish soap drying the rubber, or shaving cream hurting the environment, but it all seems pretty inconclusive to me.

i put dish soap and water into a squirt bottle and it works great. My thoughts about the dish soap on the rubber are that it is on there for such a short time that it couldn't do any damage and also my mixture is so thinned out that there is hardly any soap in it.

When I needed lube I'd use that cheap suave shampoo mixed with water in a spray bottle. I've seen all the arguments and just figured if it was safe for my hair it'd be gentle on the bindings and the oils in them and whatnot.

indywakechica, but shampoos are designed to take oil out of your hair, and bindings are made to have oil in them so they don't dry out. I agree it's probably not a big deal. Maybe if you used it every day for 4 years it would start to have an effect but that doesn't seem like a good arguement.

aFramer, how much do you dilute the glycerin? I tried a 10% solution, but it was too runny.

We have so much Glcerin from our ultra-sonic flowmeters lying around I'm going to have to give it a try. How does it dissolve and is it harmful to the environment ?

WakeTech, No its not and it dissolves instantley as compared to dishsoap which gets stuck in the bindings. bluefish86, Ye its not thick u can add starch if you want to thicken it abit but if its runniy its ok just quirt it in then use your hand ti faom it up abit when it touches water it will disapear.

dish soap and water in a squirt bottle is the easiest. works like a charm and if you mix it properly it dissolves really quickly.

aFramer, no serious i mix it super thin just enough to work, then when you get in the water you move your feet around and it is gone in like 2 seconds. no joke. and since i put it in a squirt bottle just two squirts on each binding and your in.

sounds like maybe a combo of soap glycerine and starch and water.

We sure burn through the stuff,, it's $60 a gallon if you buy it.

SHAVING CREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It, unlike dish soap completely disolves in the water, I find that if you use dish soap or any kind of soap, even if it is watered down stays in your bindings and you only end up using it again on your first fall when your bindings mysteriously slip right off so easily

the only problem with dish soap is that it encourages seaweed growth... which is super sick... i know that at my cabin we just used dish soap for a couple years.. didnt harm the bindings.... but now we got SOOOO much seaweed... and its only around where we put our bindings on... as soon as we changed to actual binding lube... which isnt that expensive.. cause u hardly use any at all... and you can get fairly cheap... all the seaweed magically disapeared....crazy

Soap on a rope!
Tie it to the swim platform so you don't lose it.

I use irish spring, but I'm sure any will work Laughing
