Well i guess my dad has finally had enough of our local dealership and is planning on getting either a new Mastercraft, SAN, or Malibu Wakesetter .... Unfortunately, we need to figure out what we're going to do with the current boat...

My question is, how hard is it to get rid of a 2003 Centurion Hurricane with only 50 hours... Are boat dealerships similar to car dealerships? Do they accept trade ins? or do trade ins only work with vehicles?

I know the three boats we're lookin at are all great but the most important part would be to find a dealership with great service... has anyone ever dealt with Ski World in Pleasanton? or Larson Marine in Stockton??

Thanks!

Most dealerships will take trades, but with yours being so new you are probably going to take a hit. What is wrong with your Hurricane? If you are having problems with the dealership I would contact Fineline Ind. They are really good about making sure the customer is happy.

nothing is wrong with the hurricane at all... the only thing is every time the word dealership comes up..my dad is already cringing haha... It's such a hassle every time we go there, i end up asking someone downstairs for help, they send me upstairs, then the guy upstairs sends me back downstairs...then back upstairs one final time! it's insane! I tried to convince my dad to just deal with it but he said if someone is willing to take the boat, to either sell it, or just trade it in... We've contacted Fineline about this dealership and all they could say was that "oh we've got a lot of complaints about them." Even people around the area know which dealership i'm talking about when i talk about how our dealership is not very well organized... the people who work there aren't really the most welcoming people also....

I figure if although we may take a hit when it comes to money, we'll be getting more out of it, for example, better boat, and most importantly better service!

if you want to, drive down to san jose and take a gander and Central Valley Marine. we recently purchased our 04 SANTE from them, and they are FANTASTIC people! they made sure that we were completely happy with our boat, and even swapped out trailers because we thought one looked a little "ratty" from people stepping on it. they were absolutely great about helping us out when it came to researching the boat long before we bought it. the guys there know about what they are selling and i would highly recomend them! im sure they still have some of their 04 SANLE's with Team options on them if you want to check them out. they have just about every color combo you could imagine too if you were to buy an on-lot boat. they also have a great selection of sangers, but i think you are in a different league of boats right now...

down here in central cali (san luis obispo) a new malibu dealership recently opened and they have a lot of stock on lot. they are awsome people and cut 2 people i know a HUGE amount of money off of their new 23lsv and vlx wakesetters. i know he cut about 5 grand off the msrp of the 04 lsv plus a kicker l7 sub and tower speakers/racks were thrown in as well and some boards, tubes etc...so far they have had great service and just got their boat back today from getting a transome stereo remote installed, for free...great work on it as well

wow we might have to check out Central Valley Marine... I just went to Larson Marine today and they had several 210LE's for 55k.. i'm not too sure if that's a good deal for a Natique though.

That San Luis Obispo Dealership sounds great! i wish their dealership was a little closer to us! The only three Malibu Boat Dealerships are in Escalon (country boat sales), Livermore(Ultimate Watersports), and Rancho Cordova (Ultimate Watersports).. Has anyone had any experience with them?

nope, sure havent...and you arent gonna find a nautique for cheap so i dont know what you meant by "that seems a little much for a nautique though..." its kinda like complaining about the price of a ferrari or something in my opinion... Razz 55k sounds about right for what they they had in stock (at least a month ago). they have a HUGE selection, but we insisted we had the real team edition and not a ltd with the team options, the only reason we didnt buy from them because all they had was ltd's. they seemed like great people that back up their products and i have only heard positive things about them. down here, when people see a nautique, they get excited, thats just how rare they are. i dont know about up there, or how many people buy them, but a nautique is certainly going to cost ya some, so you just need to decide how much you are willing to pay for your fun on the water!

hope that helped ya the tiniest bit...ill talk to ya on aim about it...

I also just bought a 04 SANTE from Central Valley Marine. I was really happy with the service and the sales people were very friendly. I felt like a pest because I was always calling them and asking questions. They didn't mind at all and they always got right back to me. I would highly recomend them.

As far as Ski World in pleasanton goes, they are a good dealer as well. Before I got my Nautique I had a Master Craft that I bought from them. They were also helpful and had good service.

Purestructure03, how about: Stop going to MOSSDALE and go elsewhere!!!

Also, as I found out on WW.com when I complained on behalf of my buddy (Sanger, Tracy Boat Center) the factory reps DO read these forums and DO takie what is said seriously.

What I would do if I was you is:

Start a post here and on the other site detailing your EXACT problems, and ask if anyone else has had similar problems.

For reference, here is the post that started a huge stir at Tracy Boat - http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/3183/170074.html?1084516191

End result is the Sanger rep paid Tracy Boats a little visit and expressed what he thought of what was said about their dealership. The MFG's know that people like you are their customer base, and it does work.

Also, call Fineline and tell them about your problems.

Wakeupdude...just to clarify things, i didn't say it was too expensive haha i said "i'm not too sure if it's a good price for a natique" meaning that i am not too familiar with how much these boats usually run for!

Chavez-y-Chavez ...haha i was tryin to keep the name of the dealership on the downlow! But yeah, it would be easy to not go to them..but if i don't, where else do i go to?

As far as Central Valley Marine, i may have to go there one of these days. As of right now, we're basically looking for a dealership where we actually feel comfortable going to. After having the Centurion as our first boat... we've learned that aside from a nice comfortable boat, we've also got to consider how well the dealership treats us.

Purestructure03, I can almost guarantee that you will get better service at other dealers.

I agree, what I'd do is keep the Hurricane and complain to the manufacturer. Take it to the other boat dealers you're considering buying from for periodic maintenance, not sure what drivetrain it has but I bet the other dealers can do factory warranted stuff anyways. Then if your still dissatisfied talk trade-in to whichever dealer treats you best. I had the same problem with my MB so now I use the Nautique dealer to maintain it.

It may just be me but whenever i step onto their lots, i feel like i'm just bugging everyone there. I usually ask the first person i see a question, then they send me upstairs to talk to the person upstairs. THEN, the person upstairs, sends me back downstairs to talk to the man i just previously talked to! It may just be me but i don't think it's right for a customer to have to walk into a dealership feeling that he or she is a burden when you're just their to support their dealership.. What do you guys think?

It may sound like a small complaint, but it's enough to turn us away from even going to the dealership whenever we have a problem. which luckily, we haven't had many of!

really now iman? mb is so unique as far as its transmissions go...im just curious of how that would work out taking it to a CC dealer.

Purestructure, about you being unfamiliar about how much they cost, it varies...now that the 04 production has stopped, dealerships can jack up the prices as much as they want because they know people NEED their nautique before summer Wink that sounds like a pretty good deal though. we got our 04 SAN TEAM for 57 otd with a lot of other stuff so im sure CVM could do better. if i were in the situation you are in, i would find the best price, then take it to either of the dealers, whichever you prefer more. the thing is, we have put over 100 hours on ours since we bought it a little over a month ago, and we havent had a single problem minus the cracked radio remote, which they sent us a new part so we could swap it out (CVM is our closest nautique dealer and they are over 4 hours away) and they sent it to us quick and we are very happy with it.

We'll see what goes down and what my dad decides to do. what he said was "If you can find someone to buy it, sell it!"

We figure that even though we may lose money by trading the Centurion in, we get a SANLE out of it with all the works. We'll have to talk to Larson Marine and see what they can do with the price. i'm sure that they can knock a little off of that 55k price tag!

Purestructure03, this is just my opinion, so take it FWIW.

I would not ditch a damn near new Centurion just because 1 dealer is giving you a hard time. There are a handful of Centurion dealers up and down the central valley and I am sure one of them will give you everything you want in the way of service. IMO upgrading to the SANLE is a waste of 20g's - one that your father will regret for a long time to come.

My suggestion: 1. find another Centurion dealer; 2. learn how to properly weight that Hurricane; 3. tell Pops to take 20g's and buy you a truck/car/pay for college.

haha if he doesn't use these 20g's towards the new boat, he'll definetely spend it on himself some other way..trust me our family doesn't need any more cars and we have enough to haul a couple boats lol so that's not an option...

I definetely agree with your opinion.. If only you understood my dad and his reasonings for wanting to get rid of it... here's a little story

so anyway, my parents and my lil sis were on their way to our place in vegas and on the way, my sister opens the rear window and it doesn't roll up...so what does my dad do? he takes his car to the newest dealership and upgrades the car..for what? i don't know!

I guess it's cool to have a dad who likes toys even when the mom may not haha

Purestructure03, I live in San Jose. I ride at calero on weekdays because it is five minutes from my house. On weekends I'll make a trip to the delta or a big lake.

I like New Melones, Nacimiento. I also ride up at the delta a lot. Calero is really small so on the weekends it gets really crowded, plus the water usually sucks. Thats why I call other lakes "big Lakes" because compared to calero all the other lakes are huge.

I bought my MC from Ski World - I worked with Scott, the gentleman who runs the place. He made my experience pretty painless...well, if you take into consideration he had the Baccardi Girls there when I was shopping around, who in turn, got me liquored-up with their Baccardi Limon slush/slurpee drink.

Most of their service work is done through Liquid Wrenches in Livermore, which was opened by a former employee of Ski World, Steve, so they know each other very well. As far as warranty work, Kudos go out to both places for taking care of a failed fuel pump during one of my camping trips. They worked out the details, I brought the boat in early Saturday morning(down from Camanche Res), and I was back on the lake by 2-2:30 in the afternoon. For those that wanted to, my guests all had the opportunity to learn to wakebooard, tube, or just hang out. The weekend trip, thankfully, was not a total loss.

As far as your Hurricane, Ski World will sell your boat on consignment. They'll display your boat on the lot, and if anyone's interested, they give the interested party YOUR best sales price. And they will not sell until you give the "say so".

Good luck!!

haha i think the bacardi girls would probably get ANYONE to buy a new boat without liquor!

about the hurricane, considering it's new, there is still a large amount left to pay it off.. will this be handled the same way as a car would? So basically, we set the price which we think is the best, they sell it, then they get rid of it?

If you are really considering a Nautiuqe, I would deal Larson Marine. They are the largest Nautiuqe dealer in the world. They will bend over backwards for you. I have purchased two boats from them and they have always been awesome. I have never had anything but great service from them. They really know how to take care of their customers.

west coast boarder, nacimiento is my local lake! thats pretty cool...

AND i think saw you pull your boat into the shop the same day we were just leaving with ours after we bought it. does it have chrome tower speakers on it (i believe they were defcon IV's, but im not sure...i remember they had the chrome faceplates on them too)? i wish i could remember what kinda truck you were driving, but you pulled straight into the left of the little CVM shop, and we were parallel to the road about to pull out with the all black with red secondary stripes one, and a white deck, but a fuse in the truck failed so we were sitting there replacing that... Dependant on what the Market Value for your Hurricane is, will determine the selling price.
Usually, the dealer will work with you on what a proper consignment price and fee is. Dealers like consignments, there is good margin in them for the dealer. It may be beneficial to the consumer to go this route if they aren't upside down on the boat.
I'm with Chavez, I have no idea why you would get rid of a perfectly decent boat because of an issue with a dealer. Save the $$ and find another dealer. My $1.02 anyway.
