anyone know what kind of majors might help?

i was wondering if anyone here knows if there are any college majors that will help when it comes to any wakeboarding related jobs.

an engineering degree might help get a job in design and stuff---get something that invloves hydor/aerodynamics

it all depends on what you want to do. Just hang out at your local shops, get in good with people, volunteer for events, be around it as much as you can, street smarts about the sport, stuff like that. Be what your sponsor wants you to be. Get the word out. That's something you can't get with a degree.

Maybe a communtications related degree if you need the book smarts

No matter what your degree start getting some face time with people in the industry. That way you are not just one of the thousands putting out a resume. Talk to reps, shops, riders, go to the trade shows and events, and dont just sit down, get involved.

some sales reps have pretty cool jobs. I've talked with a guy that is a rep for Hyperlite, Anarchy sunglasses, and used to be a rep for Mastercraft. The way he described his job was awesome. He gets things for really cheap too.

I'm in engineering right now. My major is mechanical engineering and I'm hoping to design wakeboard boats, but anything in the wakeboarding area will be great.

I got a degree in Communication Design, minors in video production & editing and graphic design. I've had a few opportunities to work within the snowboarding industry. I would assume that the wakeboarding industry is similar. There will always be a need for young graphic design and marketing talent. So if you're creative, a communications major is a great way to go. People that were in my major got great jobs in TV & film production, graphic design, photojournalism, radio, broadcasting, news and sportscasting, acting, marketing and promotions. It's a very versitile major, and you don't have to be good at f**king math!

MARKETING, get a good person in the industry so all these idoits pushing magizine ads and huge teams will realize that just a waste

wow thanks for the response everyone. i still have a year left of high school but our guidance consulers bug us all the time about being prepared. right now i really like the idea of communication design. mainly because i suck at math. Very Happy

Good choice! And if you're looking for a great school to pursue that major, look into Chico State in northern CA. Not only is it the best party school, but there are tons of sweet lakes to ride - Chico is located dead center between Lake Shasta and Lake Tahoe. HOT summers, great bar & party scene, Tahoe & Shasta, no hard math, easy to get accepted - it can't be beat! There's even a great JC in town, if you want to save money getting your GE requirements done before spending the big $ on CSU Chico. The best 4 years of my life were spent in Chico. It's such a chill town. Look into it!
