Has anyone had a problem with Pro Flight Towers in Modesto, CA ?

We purchased a tower, board racks, and a bimini from them at a trade show 2 yrs ago. We had installation delays with them but now are having a financial dispute.

1 year ago (a year after the purchase/installation) they called me and said that we still owed @$1400 and they wanted to charge it to our credit card. I faxed them a copy of their receipt stating we'd paid in full and then didn't hear back from them.

Last week we started getting hounded by a credit collections guy in Fl. saying they are going to take us to court and would pay the court fees when we lose. We are now being told that they "inadvertantly didn't run our credit card" 2 years ago when we made the purchase.

Has anyone had any trouble like this with Pro Flight? I don't want to pay this company twice!

Thanks so much,
Sue

I have never had a problem with this company but i am somewhat interested in what you have to say. I do like their towers and will buy a custom one for my next boat, however i do not buy from companies that either have "shady" business practices or are not customer service oriented. Either you can or cannot show that you paid for the tower. There is really no in-between. Did you pay with a credit card? If so, easy fix! Fax them a copy of your credit card statement. Your CC company will back you up. If you didn't pay with a credit card you may have to show how you paid for it (with a check, possibly a bank statement). If you paid in cash, most likely you will paying Proflight twice, but then again who would pay that sum of money with cash (its just not a good idea)? It seems like the whole setup prolly cost around $3k??? And if you did not pay with a CC how did they have your CC number? Maybe a deposit? It may take a couple of days to get a statement from the Credit Card company but you can get it. I realize you have "their receipt" but that is not the same. I am not saying you have done this by any means however... receipts can be altered, mishandled, filled out incorrectly Or someone may have made a mistake and wrote paid in full and when it came time to balance the books the invoice and accounts receivable may not have matched up. There are too many variables that we can't see. Your best bet is to either show third party documentation (bank, CC statement, etc.) and see where that gets you. If everything is correct on your end it should be easy to take care of, if not... get yourself a lawyer. In my Opinion Seeking collection after one year is not the best of business Ethics. If at all possible try to talk with someone at Proflight "higher up" in the company. I would be interested to see how they handle this situation.

Did they charge your credit card? It should be easy to verify. If they charged you it should be easy to prove with a statement and the collection agency will back off. If they did not charge you then you owe them the money.

Reciept or not the credit card statement will prove the case.

I just recently purchased a tower and some racks from them. Nice experience. They had sold to me a board rack that was supposed to hold a Kneeboard. Well it didn't and they swapped it back and mailed me a new one.

I guess I better keep track of my receipt though just to be sure.

I had a bad experience recently with them. I ordered a 4 6x9 tower box dynamatted with kickers. It was taking a very long time to get it so I started calling them to see what was taking so long and to get a tracking number. Every time i called they said "were shiping it out tomorow". Well after about 7 phone calls the guy says oh i have been meaning to call you the box you ordered has a scratch on it. Then he says if you want a discount i can send you out this one. I didnt want a scratch on something on a brand new boat so i said no. He said ok i have to send it to our powdercoating shop and its going to even be more delayed. Well about a month or so after i ordered it showed up. I take it to stereo shop to get it installed the installer says there is no dynamatt in the box. So i called pro flight and told them the problem and they try to say i ordered the box without dynamatt. I was pissed not only did it take forever but i was going to have to pay for the dynamatt that should have been in the box. So later that day i get a call from pro flight and they refunded the money i paid for the dynamatt. It was not a good experience at all. I would not recomend this company at all. That is my two cents . goodluck

Still trying to figure out if Sue paid for the tower or not.... WTF? Either you paid or you did not. Wonder what Proflights side of the story is....

'Cos there's always another poor unsuspecting sucker round the corner who walks right into it. The problem with poor customer service is you don't find out until you are already a customer!
