|
|
| I am looking for a cheap easy way to build a tower. I am considering using stainless steel tubing similar to that which is used on bimini's. A friend of mine has an arc welder capable of welding stainless. The idea is to make 2 arches the same shape and size and then weld them together with the same tubing using a criss-cross patern. Just wondering if anyone has tried this before and what you think some problems may be? I am not worried about it ripping off the boat, I have already figured out how it can be mounted. |

I considered doing that too, as I have a TIG welder, but in the end, I think it is easier to just buy a tower. Monster has one for 1000 bucks, which is a good deal. If you are intent on building it yourself, look here :

You just have to decide what you have more of, time or money. Good Luck! |

Yeah, just welding up some tubing and bending here and there is only the simplistic part.
Making mounts for the hull probably isn't as easy as you may think.
I agree.. Monster Tower has already done the work for you.......
But, to each his own.................. _________________ Visit my DIY Projects

Thanks for the comments but as a fellow DIY junky I know you can't stop a addict, so why not help them
Definatly do NOT use the 7/8" bimini tubing, there is no way it can carry the load. Follow the towers on the market if you make one for tubing size and material specs'. Also check out www.diyTower.com for ideas. _________________ Founder of Monster Tower Wakeboard Towers
