ski centurion vs. super air nautique

i was wondering what you all thought about a 03 22' ski centurion avalanche that is loaded with every option available i believe vs. a 2001 SAN ??? both are v-drives and both are similarly priced. the centurion has 8hrs on it and the SAN has around 100 and is a bit older...what would you do?

super air, nautique has been using the same hull on their supier air nautiques for years now. very tried and proven. centurions use wood in their boats, which i know this is going to start some controversey, but we all know that when manufacturers use wood, there is always some way that water makes it into the wood and rots it. the only differences that i can think of between the 01 SAN and an 03 which would be what you would be comparing to is the deck has been changed every so slightly to accomodate a new vent for the rear storage lockers, and some new electronics(perfect pass, stock audio, etc...) always compare quality first, and options can always be put on later. when you do that, unless the SAN has been beaten to hell, it wins the quality category.

our friend is looking into buying a new boat, and he is choosing between a new centurion, mobius, or a 2002 SANSE, but since he is wanting something new, he is most likely going with the mobius, but if the super air didnt have so many hours on it, and wasnt so used looking, he would have picked that no doubt.

oh yeah, and the gel coat patterns are different, but that is an obvious change, and the old ones still look dope.

OK guys, whats the deal with the wood. Just purchased a new Centurion, and the sales catalog says. That in 1997, they went to a high tech construction process called ICS , that took all wood from the construction process. This was read directly from the sales catalog. Whats up? Wood or not.

i believe they use wood, but coat it, which in many many years, will rot. my parents have owned wood strung sangers, and never had problems with them, but they only kept them in 2-3 year implements.

actually, the wood in a boat isnt something to worry about really...i would be more concerned if they used wood in the seating, floor than the stringers...ive heard horror stories about people stepping into a rotten piece of floor and having their foot nearly hit the spinning drive shaft...but i dont think they do wood flooring any longer.

according to their website, it is 100% composite. The only company I know that still uses wood is Sanger.

Super Air Nautique. Easy. You can not go wrong with a Nautique. My vote goes for the 2001 Super Air Nautique. In 2021 you'll stil be enjoying it. 100 hours vs 8 wont matter at that point.

(I say that becuase I have a 20 year old Nautique...they're just built, to last.)

Please if you do not know what you are talking then don't say it. Centurion does NOT use wood in their boats. The only place your boat might have in wood in it is at interior deck panels or something in which in 2003 or late 2003 they substituted the wood panels with a composite panel. Man i just do not understand why people will not give Centurion the benefit of the dought. I have taken a plant tour and seen the process so I know for a fact that what I'm saying is correct. Bottom line I have a 2002 Centurion and love this boat to death. No problems at all, other than a dealer issue that Centurion totally bent over backwards for me. To answer the question Centurion is a great boat and so is a Super Air. However, I will say that the Super Air is a little more flashy and have different options, but you pay for them.

Centurion does not have wood in their hulls. The only wood I have in my boat is my ballast tank covers in the back.

Personally I am big fan of wood--the harder the better. But in a contest between just about any wakeboard boat on the market and a Nautique, it is No contest--SAN every time. At 100 hours she's hardly been riden and barely broken in for you.

Unless it is a 95-97 Sport Nautique.....

For the record, CENTURION DOES NOT USE WOOD IN THEIR BOATS.

Sorry guys it just gets me all excited when people start saying stuff when and don't know what in the hell they are talking about.

The 95-97 Sport Nautique is my favorite boat of all time!

I like my 04 SANTE but LOVED the Sport. I could take out the back seat for storage or sacks, pull the course, fill up the sacks and have the same wake as SANTE latter in the morning.

And I could take it out on shallow private (5') lakes without the prop washing out the wake.

I'm tearing up as I think about her now. That's my opinion of the best boat of all time--the 95-97 Sport Nautique.

and when i said centurion uses wood in their boats, i was told that by a centurion dealer 2 summers ago.

It's been said already, but you really cannot go wrong with the Nautique. Their build quality is unparalleled.

Centurion does not use wood in their boats. I have a 2004 Avalanche Eisenhauer Edition and we love it. The quality is great and the ride is even better. Mine is quite a bit larger than the Super Air but the only difference is a couple of bells and whistles. The Super is a great boat but we need more room and to me it is not worth the difference in price.

you can get most of the same options on both boats though i believe, so the bells and whistles isnt really valid...

ICS Contruction is 100% composite. The trick is to read between the lines. ICS contruction according to Centurion consists of the Hull/Stringer/Floor. This does not mean 100% composites in the entire boat. Just those 3 items that make up what they call ICS. Take a tour of the factory.
I think they make a great boat for what you pay for and think it will last a long time. But you may still knock on wood.

midwesty, umm yeah, good luck with either boat out on Mead... that's all I can say to you. Keep lots of lifevests on board at all times.

There is a reason why I had a 25 foot boat on that lake.
