Bush doesn't have the support to truly go to War. The War Powers Act and Congress can stop anything in that regards. This is why Bush is lobbying so hard in the international community and at home. Right now I don't see the support. I would like to know what the Congressmen who fought in Vietnam think about all this. I'm sure they have some mixed opinions.

the civil war was not for any of her rights, and im brought up smoking because people choose to smoke, just as people chose to go to war for what they belive, she dident make them, or ask them to do it, if she dosent belive in what they do, then who cares, thats her write, why should she have to pledge alegance to a flag that stands for things she dosent belive, and she shouldent have to leave the states for not beliving, its a free country

James- How can you say the civil war was not about her rights? What is your arguement on how the civil war did not free all men in this country.

You're right James it is a free country but does that mean I can run around outside naked and not get in trouble for it? We all have personal freedoms to the point that they are not violating other people's freedoms. People disrespecting the flag offends people just like people running around naked. She didnt have to say the pledge which is fine, but she shouldnt be able to blatently disrespect the flag like that.

Thanks Josh I thought I was the only one who remembered him.

Wes makes a good point. Freedom can not infringe upon the liberties of other people. So in essence we give up certain freedoms in order to live in this country.

James- as for the leaving if you don't agree with it arguement. A Social Contract theorist by the name of John Locke explained a thing called Tacet Consent. By living in this country you have agreed to live by the laws and regulations. So in less words if you don't like it and aren't willing to live with it, you should leave.

I bet this girl is deluded about America. Similarly James it is obvious that your concept of history and politics is mislead. Read some critiques on the Civil War. Despite the move towards revisionist history the Civil War still boils down to Slavery. I believe I wrote a final on it... I'll try and locate it so I can enlighten you.

wes--nor cal is right because the south was willing to fight because without slavery they had nothing----there whole labor supply was based on cheap/free labor---if slavery were outlawed they would be forced into paying all their workers---the south's population consisted of 1/3 slaves and those slaves worked the fields. the souths whole economy was based on agricultural supplies and supplying the industrialized north--if they were to have had to pay the slaves it would have been a major crises in the south so they fought
