Ok Im gettin some cash tommorow like enough for a skate and Im pretty sure my parents are getting me an A-10 attack vest, the reason I am sayin this is because its my bday party tommorow and I will end up with a little over 100 bucks. Hopefully, thats a rough estimate. But I want to get a skate, and because I wont need a new vest and I want to buy something wake related since its all Im doing at the moment because football isnt here. But the real matter since I gave you my life story. I suck at regular skating. But everybody I know said wakeskating is hella fun, and I am looking at the Hyperlite Scape 112 to start me out and if I dont like it I have friends who would most likely buy it or I could try my friends cassette and see what I think which is what I will most likely do, but is it really a lot like regular skating or can people who suck at skating wakeskate? I mean I can olly but not much more, maybe a 180 if Im lucky. So will I waste my money on a skate? And buy the way my reason sayin I want the scape is because its supposed to be a good beginning skate, Im of course going to paint the bottom because trees dont do it for me, even though looks dont effect the ride I want something custom, somethin me. _________________

any skate for under 100 is a good begining skate. and no you do not have to be good at skating to wakeskate but it helps just go out and have fun. |

buy a used skate, save some dough. I got one on ebay for $60 and love it. What's even more fun is my old HL 143 wakeboard that I took the bindings off and added leftover gatorgrip....cost $0. _________________

Ok great and I saw your pics too so thats a confidence builder, how much different is gettin up? I heard all you have to do is hold on with one hand and then get up like you're on a board? That seems pretty easy. _________________

I had to up the boat speed a few mph (around 25) to make up for less surface area than a wakeboard. I love it. _________________

tball, i usually go slower on a skate but that may be just me.
Volcom_wakeboarder, you dont really need to hold on with one hand just rets your heels on the board and lay back until the slack is out of the line then have the driver drag you a littleand push down with your heels(this will keep the board to your feet) then its just like a wakeboard. |

Volcom_wakeboarder,
Hold on with two hands. The same as you would on a wakeboard. Also, just for your information, my friend skateboards, not real good but he can do shuvits and 180s both regular and switch. And he can do better ollie 180s and switch ollie 180s then I can. He cant do shuvits to save his life though, but thats because hes gay.
tball,
25?! Thats crazy. I ride around 20. |

maybe my skate is just way too small. I board at 22 but if I skate that slow I end up plowing my way through the water. I weigh about 225 and that poor skate can barely keep me from sinking. maybe I should use a skate on each foot like wake-roller-skating? if that takes off someday, I want a cut. |

vance, freerider4, I should probably try a bigger board, maybe my wife will inherit the Cassette.
Volcom_wakeboarder, good luck with your purchase, post some skate pics. _________________

tball, I'll get right on it but since I found out I can get it from my Board Shop for the same price Im gonna get it there tommorow. My mom is pickin it up before my family goes out to the lake so I will get to try it right away. Even better that way.
I'll probably wait to paint it. And with that comes yet another question. Should I just sand it down to like rough it so that primer will sticker and then smooth the primer with a lighter grit sandpaper. Then I want to paint it all red and once it dries put a Hyperlite decal on it and then I will probably have to rough up the red too since I'm gonna go over it in black. But I'm probably gonna wait for winter to paint it. _________________
