Whatever you make them out of, they gotta be less than about $50 a can.

Precision Metal Works stuff kicks butt and they are beautiful!

After my DIY speaker project, with hours of sanding and polishing, I about took a dump when I saw Raul's stuff.

Two size cans - 8.5 inch and 6.5 inch are good choices - will hold variety of speakers.

Mine are made from aluminum irrigation pipe! Cheap stuff but a lot of work Laughing

Good Luck!

DiyGuy,

What 's the wall thickness on that pipe ? and how much of a lip do you leave on the end of the can for drilling in the speakers ?

waketech - Compared to Raul's speakers the walls are very thin. I will say though that sprayed with dynamatt and stuffed with polyfill, they sound good and don't really rattle the cans.

As I already had speakers and knew the diameters and hole spacings, I just welded 'tabs' on the inside of the can about 1/2 inch back then drilled them and tapped them for machine screws. It's sort of cheezy, but it works!

I think there is a photo somewhere in my DIY construction site of them....
