Has anyone had any experience with running one of the more modern wakeboats exclusively in salt water? It's time to replace the makeshift outboard wakeboat, but will be riding in a saltwater environment. Wondering if I'll be spending $40K for a boat that will be in the shop more than on the water. Also, heard about a manufacturer that offers a closed cooling system rather than raw water cooling...Any opinions??
Are there any products on the market that can help with the inevitable cooling passage corrosion?
Thanks. |

pretty shure all boat companies offer closed cooling systems, I know Nauti's Bu's and MC's do. _________________ wakeboards

| There is a group in Hawaii that runs a san out there all the time. You just have to flush every single time and make sure you get all of the salt wiped away. They do replace manifolds about every 2-4 years though depending on their use. |

| i have a 4 (5) yr old open cooling boat used exclusively in brackish (semisalty) water, Jack V is right, just flush it well every time, if in very salty water i'd use a saltaway formula while flushing. Also spray down the hull and wipe any salt off the insides. Closed cooling would be nice, but its not necessary if you are willing to take the time to flush it every use. |

| Closed cooling and lots of zinc anodes, that's the way to do it! |

I have a 2004 Mobius that I run exclusively in salt.I have a closed cooling system, a flush kit and 3 zincs. I sprayed all the motor mounts with an anti-corrosive spray and hose out the interior after every ride. This allows fresh water to make it's way to the bilge and then the bilge pump pumps out the salt / fresh water. I keep my boat moored in salt and pull it out every 2-3 weeks to wash and wax.
Hope this helps. |
