Did anyone see the story about the chik basketball player turning her back to the flag. She claims America discriminates againt minorities. Isn't the fact that she is still permited to play her game an example of our countries tolerency?
First of all if it was My country she would not be allowed to play. secondly the fact that we are so tolerant is our countries vulnerable spot but freedom is worth defending.
I have an idea lets continue to let High School students disgrace our own backyards and educate 20%-30% of people who come from anti-american countries, this is stuff!
We need laws like:
1. You can't fly a flag on your car from another country unless you
also have a U.S. flag
2.Every township should have a guarded ammunition depot for the public in case of invasion.
Where are our values? Arm America!!! |

Theres another example of our constitution being a big part of our downfall. Our cause is good but alls i'm saying is that we need to think about the people in our borders that love our country and not keeping our kids out of colleges so that we can educate people who don't represent. Thats like having A&F in our mags. What the shizl is that? _________________ Raley cut everything! |

| i understand that it's a free country but there are some things everyone needs to respect if they are here. if she doesnt like our country what country does she like? why doesnt she take her ass to that country if she hates us so much? that's stuff. im not sayin you should have to say the pledge but you should at least not go out of your way to show disrespect. |

Krashr- Though rampant nationalism is good it can also lead to some serious issues. The fact that a HS girl feels disriminated against and chooses to protest just demonstrates how great this country truly is. Sure she probably doesn't understand how good living in this country is to her but the fact she can take these rights for granted is a wonderful thing. Sounds stupid but conflict is what this nation needs to grow. A republic like the USA thrives on diversity. Without conflict, issues such as disrimination would go unaddressed. _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong.

If I were her teacher I'd make sure and point out the 13-15th amendments and discuss how many people died to give her those rights. _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong. |

| Who cares, the US flag is a piece anyway, now if she turned her back on the Republic of California flag, then she should be exiled, in my town there is ths big US flag that is always up with lights on it,i think it should be taken down and replaced with a Republic of California flag. |

negative nor*cal?, what dumb comments, how about yours about explaning to her how many people died to give her the rights she has today, not very many, comparitivly to what else people die from these days, such as drunk driving, and cigarettes, yes, i respect thouse people for what they did, but more people die every year from cigarettes than people that died in ww1 and 2, which were the only 2 wars where people "died for our rights" the civil war would have only split our country, but we would still be "free", as long as you arnt black(im not saying i agree with slavery) but there were only 3 wars where people fought for our rights, the war with brittan and ww1and 2, and just because people died for it, dosent mean everyone has to agree with it, some of the people that died for it dident agree with it, so who are we to tell someone that they are disrespectifull for not agreeing with the way this country is? _________________

| who cares about people that die form cigarettes? It's their choice to smoke them. If it wasnt for those people that died in ww1 and 2 and the war against britian those people might not have the freedom to smoke their cigarettes. why should we feel sorry for people that choose their own fate? |

James I remember your stupidity from last summer. There was a revolution in the summer of 1963 maybe you've heard of it. Had to do with civil rights. There doesn't have to be a war for people to die for a cause. Martin Luther King Jr and Malcolm X both laid down their lives for a RIGHT AND JUST cause. WW1 and WW2 had little to do with American freedom but it was a RIGHT AND JUST cause. The civil war was a RIGHT AND JUST cause. The American dream is based off the all encompassing freedoms that our constitution guarantees. If one or a hundred people lay their life down for that cause it is noble and honorable.
Cigarettes and drunk driving are sad and yes any loss of life is tragic but respect those who lost their life so you can live the life you live. It doesn't matter if they died protesting for civil rights or if they died in the revolutionary war. Those people who are willing to sacrifice life to better the Nation are truly heros.
James you shouldn't argue with me. It's not wise. _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong. |

How do you go from talking about Government Protest to cigarettes and car accidents. Take a reasoning class at the local JC and then try to discuss something relevant to the topic... _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong. |

More Americans died in the Civil War than all the other Wars we faught in combined. I think in one particular battle.
This being said it's a shame that it our values allow for naive, spoiled liberals like this girl to desecrate our flag in our schools.
I'm all about freedom of speech but let her go outside on the street and protest, Not using our schools as a stage.
It should be considered unsportsmanlike cunduct for any athlete in any sport to turn their back to their own flag or their competitors. If they do this they should not be allowed to compete. |

I just don't feel that it's fair to force someone to do something that they don't believe in.
"Should'nt accepence to college be based strictly on merit?"
I agree that affirmative action is flawed. Race shouldn't matter because we are all people, being a certain skin color should provide almost no advantage or disadvantage in school, although I can see how racism could hurt someone in school. What should matter, however, is family income. You are just kidding yourself if you think that a poor person has equal opportunities to people who live in wealthier families.
"I'm so sick of all the whining!"
Uh, then stop. |

I agree that affirmative action has outlived its usefulness. Race shouldn't be an issue and yet they still make you check that box on every application. I refuse to mark caucasian. I have an ethnic identity also. But then we also get into title 9 issues and all these laws that have the intention of creating an equal playing field but don't always work. The fact remains in reality there will always be the "Haves" and "Have Nots". _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong. |

| Well, laws like Title IX did work a long time ago and did create equality in college sports, but now it's going a bit too far. |
