IMO i would try out some 484 skates. I really DO NOT like the idea of "oh buy a flat deck then when you get better get a concave". I believe you should just go ahead and get a concave skate to learn with. Ive heard very good things about lf and cassete concaves. I ride a 484 42 inch concave and i love it. Go with one of these. DO NOT go hyperlite. please. |

just out of curiosity why not go with hyperlite? I've been considering getting a skate forever, I just don't know if a driver would be able to put up with the number of times that I fall |

there is more to wakeboarding then throwing inverts......

I haven't ridden the grubb or the byerly but I have much respect for both of those riders. The only skate I've ridden was the Cassette concave which I really liked. I've heard that the HL skates are too light and not as grippy but I just wanted to hear the reason you have to tell someone not to go to HL for no reason. I'm not a HL guy but I just want to hear your reasons. |

vance, did it ever occur to you that your 484 skate vaguely resembles a cassette? _________________ www.TheLiquidPlayground.com

I have a Grubb Byerly 116 and just purchased the Concave Cassette to try it out. Being a beginner at wakeskating I didnt know what to go for but now I can certainly try them back to back. I am interested to see how much grip the tape has over the foam. |

484 bought the cassette molds after e&o pulled the plug on liquid force. There is more to it, but I don't remember anymore. The bottom line is the 484 shape is the same as the 03 cassette shape, and the 03 liquid force shape....... _________________ http://www.integrity-wake.com

vance, Im lookin at the HL Scape 112, the 2003 Cassette 43" foam top and the 2003 Cassette 41" foam top. They all cost the same and Im new to skating so whats gonna be my best skate to get? I feel like a newb askin this but I dont have a constant cash flow or any cash flow for that matter so if Im spendin the 100 bucks I want the right skate. _________________

Volcom_wakeboarder, I havn't rode any of those. I learned on a CWB lucky skate for crying out loud. I think any flat deck would be ok for you to learn on. You are definitly going to want to upgrade to a concave when you get better. BUT, I think I saw Steve wahlmen (sp?) riding a flat deck in asterisk*. |
