You can get some styrafoam from walmart. Ya know those archery targets with the five targets on them. They are made out of styrafoam, but they are only 2ft by 3ft so you would have to get quite a few! If you use this let me know how it goes!

Lowes or homedepot dont carry 55 gal drums or stryro foam @ the one in chattanooga...

03 I bought my styrofoam at my local True-Value. You may want to search your local yellow pages for anyone who repairs or builds boat docks and ask them where to get it near your home. 55 gal drums are relatively easy to come by. I've heard that car washes are a good place to look for them.
Also, I see you're from Tenn. I've heard that there is a styrofoam manufacturing plant in southern Ark., but I have no clue where. A buddy of mine said he went there to buy foam to float a mobile home on.

They do have styrafoam at Home Depot. Just ask for the huge sheets of foam insalation!

how much do 55 gal drums float above the water? i want to build a box for wakeskating thats pretty low. and how does styrofoam work?
