towable slider

Anybody have any plans for a towable slider? I know you need to put it on tubes, but how do you attach it?

I haven't made one yet, but I am planning on using 2 tubes and drilling holes in the wood near where the handles on the tubes are. Then use zip(wire) ties to hold it together. Like I said I haven't done it yet, but I think it will work.

thanks... that gives me some ideas to go on. how long is yours gonna be? i have a 20 ft pvc pipe that is bent like a rainbow, i could cut it. also have u seen the towables on Snap DVD.. thier so bad ass.

We built a couple last year. Both of them were built really fast, and were kind of meant for a couple sessions and just to try them out, so we didn't spend to much time with the building or designing. So we basicly made platforms for a 2x10 with wide bases, and tide each side to the tubes as secure as we could. We just covered the 2x10 with linoleum flooring, which actually worked pretty good. The first one worked ok, but we wanted something higher. The second one was high enough, but it was too wide for the wake we were riding, and you really had to get a straight up pop to get on it, which didnt work out. In the pic the guy came really close to hittin his face and getting run over. We're gonna build one next year, hopefully learn from our mistakes and build a solid one, rainbow would probably work a lot better

Take 1 piece of plywood and cut 2 circles that are big enough to sit on top of the innertubes. Take a 4x4 and cut 2 equal lenghts of it that will be your height. Remember that it is still goin to be that high off the innertube so account for the height before cutting it. screw the 4x4 post to the plywood circles by screwiing from the bottom up. next screw a piece of 2x4 or 2x6 horizontally w/ the ground about half way up the 4x4s connecting the two as a support. make the board longer or shorter depending on how big you want this towable. now cut 4 pieces of 2x4 for each 4x4 that will only be like 2 ft long each that will screw from the 4x4 into the plywood for supports. Find a piece of 2x8 and screw it on top of the 2 4x4 post. thats the base that your smart deck will be screwed to so you can slide. drop that entire contraption ontop of the innertubes and tie them down to the handles of the tubes. now figure how far you want it behind the boat, tie up the rope and hit that thing. itll turn out just like the one in metronome and my side that you have seen watson, parks, shane, and chad hitting. we built it and it works. dont build it too hight the first time like we did and catch the edge. it was about waist level and im 6'2 and when i came off the wake it was too high to be that close so i caught it the first times

dragon85 thanks for the details... that def gives me the confindence to build it now that i know its gonna work. i was thinkin of putting a rainbow on it but i want to hit it with my wakeskate too.. ill figure it out. you should put ur descriptions to some pics and put them under the building a slider section.. i m sure a lot of people would benifit from them.. peace

i need to see if i can find all the pics of the process so that we could put it on the building section. you could build a rainbow the same way except make the innertubes spaced out a bit more and the 4x4 would be real low. use thick plywood to cut out the side shapes(where you would normally have the 2x8 but put one half on each side and screw some smart deck ontop of those 2. its kinda hard to describe but let me look for some pics and if you need anymore help just post it here and ill get back.

no. im at school in new york and wont be home(houston) until easter weekend so ill let you know how things go when i get there. if you build it too high and its too wide for the wake push it over so it starts in the middle and ends on the far side of the flats that way you can gap onto it.

I have two screamer tubes (the flat ones) and plan on making a flat bar rail this summer for sure but I'm also considering a 15' box like in the DVD snap and some other creations like A frames and such

does anyone think it will work for an A frame or will I need more speed, do you think it will be stable enough?

i would think the a-frame you would lack speed, but i could be wrong. if you built it wide enough that it started on the edge of each wake u may have the speed from cutting, but you really slow down on those things. gap to the top flat and you would have speed to slide down would make for some cool change-ups.

I plan on building a towable flat bar slider this summer too but I also want to rebuild it after were done into something more challenging like a A frame towable or something

So my question is will an A frame be sturdy enough to hit on tubes or will it work OK

if it works good I will definatly throw the pics on the net for u boys and girls but its spring here in michigan and perfect pass is still reading water temp in the 40's so it will definatly take a while

yea i dont think an a-frame has been built yet... but the only way to find out if u need speed is to try it out. i thought a towable s-rail would be sweet, some guys have made an s rail b4 so i dont see how it couldnt work, just make it so the curve goes towards the boat first for the slack in the rope... but anyway, id say go for it.

yeah but you really think you could slide in and lose that much slack. i think the tension of the boat straight on would be too much and if u did make that first curve and slid off u would be in front of the slider with slack and it would run u over. But this sport and we will never progress without getting out there and tryin stuff like that. Man if i wasnt locked away at this academy I would be out chargin it and buildin new rails like we used to. go for it dude

ive already made the top part of a slider its 2 6" pvcs about 13ft long... how long and how tall do u make the towable? i was thinking about just cutting the ends off, and make it around 9 ft or so, is that too long still? and how tall should i make the 4x4's? im just using regular tubes, if anybody knows help a bro out
