I recently bought a 03 Chevy Crew Cab with the flared fenders. I was wondering if any of you have experience with fitting tires underneath them. A buddy of mine is going to give me 2 weld 16x10 and I will be buying the other two (I can't pass up 5 bills.) The truck is only a two wheel drive so I don't plan on lifting it (although I did tighten the tortion bars to level the front.) I was hoping to fit at least a 32x12.5 tire. Let me know what you all think.

A Chevy? Hmmm, this should do the trick.

Ha ha very funny, a Dodge or Ford man I presume. Just because your dealership issues you those, doesn't mean they will fit all trucks.

i would guess you could fit a 305/70R16 that would probably fit the wheel best cause it's a wider tire. just call 4 wheel parts wholesalers and they should be able to tell you what will fit.

Wes
305 is the equivalent to a 33 right

No it is just a half-ton, but it is the heavy duty so it rides higher than most. That is what I am worried about 152, the turning radius.

i would think with the tortion bars cranked up you would be able to fit the 285/75 no prob. maybe a tiny bit of rubbing if even that. but with a 16x10 in wheel you might have too much backspacing cause that's a pretty wide wheel. just call 4wheel parts or pretty much any suspension company and they should be able to tell you what will fit and what wont. weld might even know too.

With a 16x10 wheel and 2wd, it's gonna be hard to put a 33 or even a 32" tire and still get full turning radius. I have a 96 Z71...4wd with the 3/4 ton suspension, springs, etc with no lift. I have 32 x 12.50's, but I had to go with a 15" x 8" rim....and the sht still rubs, even with the torsion bars cranked. But go to the tire joint, they should be able to help better, good luck.

i believe you can get spacers to move the tires out a little. you might check into that also.
i just thought of something else. have you ever had bigger tires on a truck? with a 33 in. tire you shouldnt run into many problems but it usually screws stuff up. in some cases it will make the truck roadwalk and increase play in your steering. i dont know why but it has to do with tires i believe because on my last truck i had 38 in. super swampers and it was a pain in the ass to stay in my lane. on my truck now im on my 4th set of 285/75 tires and some roadwalk worse than others. pathfinder tires, i have found to be the worst. just make sure you get some input on tires before you buy any.

On a half ton 2wd chevy without a lift, you are going to have a hard time puting even 31x10.50 on it. I have a very similiar setup and the tires rub the wheel well when hitting a bump. Hope this helps. Good luck on the setup.

he has the tortion bars cranked up so that he has a little more clearance in the front. on the older body style you could get 2-2.5 in. out of them.

On my HD Wes I got 3 inches and could still get more if I wanted. I was really surprised at how easy it was. The ride suffers a little but not so much I want to take it back down
