i did a 180 powerturn once. it was pretty cool but it through 2 people out of the boat and a bunch of water came in. i was crusing at about 21 and when the rider fell i punched and turned hard to the right. the back end slipped out and the side of the boat slammed into another wake and stopped it pretty hard.

other than that ive seen sea doo jetboats do it. its easy for them because when they are off the throttle they have nothing holding them to the water on the bottom like a prop. they just do it the same way as on a waverunner.

All you gotta do is go full speed in your boat. Your boat must be a inboard or v drive. Through the boat into Neutral as you crank the wheel to one side or the other. Make sure you dotn go to far and into Rev. cause this will suck water back into your engine and that could be very bad news. Like Wes said though make sure people are holding on and it will put a lot of water in the boat. But it always has been a croud pleaser in my boat.

I think it depends on the boat too. I was with a buddy on his mid 90s Tige and he could do it easily due to the shallow draft of the boat. It was fun and I was holding on to the pylonas hard as i could and still almost went into the drink. My Nauti2001 won't do it though. Still he's had his control cables break before and I've had 0 problems with my steering so I'm not too sad I can't do it.

Power turns suck. This summer, whenever we see a boat do a power turn, we are going to chase them down and throw them a beer. On the beer can it is going to simply state "Dumba$$ of the Day Award" Why screw up perfectly smooth water?

well of course you dont do it on smooth water or with people anywhere near its a rough water thing. and if you do that you better have enough for all the tubers on the lake.

it's okay to get back on the power once you're turned around. just try to keep all the wakes parallel to eachother, no perpendicular wakes.

Its actually really bad to do them on jetskis, they cavitate the hell outa the jet. I used to ride em alot (i know, dont hate me, it was back before wakeboarding really started) and now i just cringe when i see some weekend warrior in a 10k jet ski doin slideouts and cavitating the hell outa the engine, AHHHH.

Cool we've got 2 2002 yamaha's with 60 hours of engine cavitation then. What else are they good for? We just screw around on them when the water's too rough to board.

That's a great idea, I can see their reaction. First they think their cool since they are getting a beer, but then they find out, they're not...

Otto-Exactly. That is our point exactly. We thought we would play it off as "Yeah what's up guys? Here's a beer. Cool!" Throw a can to them and take off. By the time they figure it out, we will already have been on our way. If they catch up to us and inquire about the award, we are all willing to let them know why they deserved it!!!

I love power turns! I execute them as much as possible in the smoothest water possible! The delta is great for that kind of thing! Smooth water to mess up for 1000's of miles! Can I have a beer???? Laughing Laughing

I was thinking the same thing kyle. What are the rules to this game? Do you get one beer for every powerturn? Cause if the water's not smooth ill be happy to mess it up more for free beer. kind of an ass hole thing to do but beer is beer.

I like the way people go postal when they see someone doing one! Chill out, you're out on the water enjoying your day....why get stressed out at someone for enjoying THIER day??? Leave em' be, and go on with your bad self.....throw a power turn of your own...you might have some fun! Laughing Laughing

Beers wont be handed out each time someone does a powerturn. It is for the boat who does the dumbest move all day.

Here is an example:
We saw this guy standing on the back of the boat for quite awhile while one of our riders was getting ready. We were trying to figure out what was going on. After a bit, we realized he had ran over the rope and was trying to cut it free. That wasn't so bad until they took off and the chick on the boat said, "It's only our third rope." We started laughing so hard. I bet the guys on that boat wanted to kill her.

My fave are the people that take about 40 mins to get in or out of the water at the launch. I dont know if you guys have to go through it if you have boats moored or whatever but its always the people with the bayliners and the brand new trucks that can never get their damn boat on the trailor. Its not terrible some times if you have time to kill but when u only have a few hours to board after work and then want to get home to go out but you have to worry about the stupid launch it kills me.
