Question For the Canadians

Hey, I'm going up to Fernie this weekend, and will be heading up quite often. I'm most likely going to be drinking, and as I understand, the drinking age if Fernie is 19. What are your laws like regarding alchohol. I am underaged, so do they have MIP's, or what, and how does that cary over to the states, anyone who can give me any more info on this, I would appreciate it.

Ya gotta be 19 to drink, or buy alchohol but you can usually get away with it, but be aware some places will check I.D. Umm dont be drinking on the streets that Intoxication in public i belive. Umm Dont drink and drive. Thats bout it have fun.

Oh we know we can get beer, and anything else we want. I'm just wondering what happens if by some freak chance we get caught up there. What are the cops like, and what will they give you?

i was wasted in a friends car when we were 18 and asked an undercover cop how to get to our hotel. i must have slurred because he pulled us over and gave my friend a bac test. .16 is what he blew. we lucked out, he made us get in the back of our car while he drove us back to the hotel and his partner followed. close one. only in vancouver. oh yeah when you walk up to the doorman, ask if they can break an american $100 bill? got us in everytime with no i.d.

I really don't know, Probably not at a bar. My friends are all 16, 17, or 18. I am 15, but pass for 18 and have an Id for it. People always think I'm 18 without seeing and ID anyway. But uh, I'm not sure where we'd drink. My friend has a big 5 bedroom condo at the mountain, so probably somwhere around the complex there, up at the mountain. Not actually in their condo because of his dad, but we can definetly go back threre, as he'll be upstairs the entire time.

Hmm that sounds like heat to me. Just tell ur freinds dad that ur going out for a movie or something and drive somewhere and pick up somechicks and go to there house? Not sure but anyw3ays have fun and let us know how it went. Peace

if you are caught driving while under the influence of alcohol it results in a suspension of your license for x number of days, usually depends on how drunk you were. Drinking in a public place is a fine of 105 canadian dollars I think, and drinking while underage is 175 canadian dollars. The cops arent huge pricks up in Fernie, I was just there 3 weeks ago, however if they do find you breaking the law, they will give you a ticket. Its kind of later in the season too, for making all the qutoas and what not. My friend got a speeding ticket for going 33 in a 30 zone... Shocked

...but they usually are pretty good if you show some respect to the law.

I'm not sure about Fernie, but here in Ottawa, nobody I know's ever been fined. The cops usually just bring anyone drinking underage home.

Hey, ONE more thing... always make sure your alcohol (beer) is in the trunk, NOT inside the car, not even one bottle, they will either take it (for their pleasure later on) and/or give you a big fine.
and if you get pulled over, DON'T be cocky!!!! They HATE that. Rolling Eyes

so 100 canadian dollars so its only like 4 dollars american. what part of canada are you going to? I konw at the bars in whistler they were hardcore about checking IDs
