Anyone know of any kind of tubing that could be secured to the drain plug hole so it could be used as a intake for a ballast? I want to tubing or piping to the hole, then an inline pump, then run lines to all my fatsacs. Anyone got any ideas of doing this? Its for a Supra Launch direct drive.

Dudemanwes,

There is nothing like drilling a hole in you new Launch. It's a rush. Go ahead an install a seperate water pick-up for the ballast cause the thru hull fitting will have a scoop on it an will allow you to fill while running. I put mine near the drain. They are only about $20. That way your drain will be able to get all the water out when you need it. Good luck.

It sounds like you said "fat sacks". The size of the drain hole plug is typically 1/2" pipe thread. The problem is, that is not big enough for most pumps. They require 3/4" plumbing. Also, if you are filling more than one sack (and hopefully more than one pump), you will want a 1", to 1 1/4" thru hull fitting.

I used the drain plug hole for my ballast system on my '93 MC Prostar 205. It worked out pretty well. My drain was threaded, so all I had to do was screw a pipe fitting into it and then run a hose off that.

think you could post some pictures of that ballast on the 93 prostar, i currently have a fatseat, and a 600 i put upfront and fill about 3/4. i might add a 350 to the ski locker, and just fill it up until it cant take no more. Lemme know what u did, and where u put the sacs.

I'm not sure if I have any pics of the ballast anymore or not. I sold the boat this winter, so I can't really take any for ya either. I will check tonight and post them if I still have some. I thought I saw where you ride with Dru Dalton in Orlando? If so, tell him Justin from IN said what's up.

Alright, here's some pics of my ballast system in my old Prostar 205. You may want to start with the bottom pic and move up. The pics were posted in the opposite direction I attached them.

damn thats really nice, how big is the sac in the ski locker, i tried to get a 350 in there but it would not fill up all the way. Right now i run a fatseat in the back and a 600 3/4 filled up in the bow. How do u empty your sacs? is the pump reversable?
how much weight where you running

The pump I was using was a reversible jabsco pump, so I could also drain the bags out the drain hole. I had a custom letsgoride sack in the ski locker that I estimated held about 250 lbs. I then had two sacks in the back(1 gethighsports sack that was approx 700 lbs., 1 250 lbs letsgoride sack) that were under the sun deck. I also had 100 lbs. of lead under the front cushions. I fiegured when I had everything full, I had around 1100 to 1200 lbs. in ballast. It took roughly ten minutes to fill everything with this setup. Let me know if you have any more questions.
