Camera Housing

I know this may sound like a way to cheap out on actually buying a premade one but I actually have a good idea for how the housing will look. The only problem I have is how to get the camera to track the rider, now my tower has a ball-bearing where the rope is attached and I would like to know if anyone has one of these or if they have made their own. What did you use/have to get the camera to track the rider. I've heard about a simple loop that the rope goes through and pulls the camera in that direction is this true? And do I need to allow for any vertical motion or do i simply need horizontal?

picture the top of a traditional tripod with the handle bent at the end so the rope will move the tripod with the rider. I can get pics this weekend if im not clear

I did one by tearing up an old camera tripod and just used the head of it to mount the camera to the tow point. The up/down tilt handle was replaced by a 3 foot threaded rod with a hook on the end of it. Right and left was pretty much free wheeling. Cost less than $10.

DiyGuy, thanx for the pics, and the ideas. Im pretty sure that whatever I make will beat my present set up. (Newbie in the boat holds the camera)
