|
|
Alright - here it is. Sorry it took so long to post the pics. These pictures are of the board rack that I built for about $35 in parts. Took about 3 hours total to put together. Bought all of the parts at Home Depot. It's built completely of 1/4" galvanized pipe, rubber tubing, rubber bushings, a few 3/8" bolts & nuts, washers, rubber strap, 2" metal ring, & rubber "cane ends". I'd tell you how to build one, but it'd take too long to write it out. You can figure it out fom the pictures though. It's very strong, very stable and it holds onto my board really well. There is nothing touching the board but rubber, and the fit is very tight. It's not much to look at, but it'll work just fine. It can be mounted on a vertical or horizontal bar, but it requires two holes drilled into the tower . It could also be built to hold 2 boards. Let me know if you have any questions. If you want one, but you can't figure out how to build one yourself, I'll build one for you for a few extra dux.

| Nice Idea. I could hang some of those from the pipes in my unfinished basement to display my boards and give the basement that special touch

very nice.
any chance you could put a parts list together? or at least for the rubber parts? I havent seen some of thoes at homedepot before.
I also think it wouldnt be too hard to make a clamp mechanism so that you wouldnt have to drill into your tower/pole.

Rubber Parts:
- about 4 feet of 1/2 black automotive tubing (fits VERY snuggly over 1/4 pipe - requires soap & alot of strenth to slip it on). This hose covers all 1/4 piping. Cut to fit with scissors.
- 4 black rubber "cane ends" (tips of arms). These are sold in packs of 4 and slip snuggly over the arm ends.
- 4 black rubber "end caps" (bushings between tower & bolt hardware). I had to drill a hole through these, because they come solid. I think bushings from skateboard or rollerskate trucks would work too.
- 2 black inline skate wheels w/ no bearings (helps keep board safe & secure). I didn't have to buy these - stole 'em from my bro's old skates.
- 1 black rubber strap
That's all the rubber I used.

| Why don't you try to use a u-bolt coated with rubber to attach your rack to your tower rather than drill 2 holes, not a secure but you don't have to drill your tower which is a good thing!!!

| It's cool man. It is kinda ghetto, but it actually looks pretty decent on my tower.

| Wakegrinder- I tried to use rubber coated u-bolts at first, but the mounting hardware looked too chunky, and I was affraid it would slip in rough water. It's mounted now, and it's totally sturdy with my board in it.
