I've been thinking about it, I suck at riding (although I do it anyway but I'm great at organizing. I've got alot of experience. I'm willing to do anything I can if there is enough interest. I'm in Florida and we have alot of nice areas here.
I was thinking Lake Whipoorwhill and OWC? There is a KOA at Whipoorwhill, it's in the middle of the state, it's near OWC, and all of the cold weathr folks could stay relatively inexpensively. Any other areas you can think of that would be great. Maybe we could do an East and West coast thing at the same time to save on travel cost?
This would not be a competition thing, more of a convergence on a certain area at a certain time. Would anyone be interested in attending? If we were really interested in doing it, we could perhaps send out flyers to the local shops in different areas and see what happens. Let me know what you think.

I'd be interested. It would depend on when and financial situation at the time but definitely interested. Were you thinking more sooner than later on this? Probably would have to wait until you get more feedback on that. But yeah I'm interested...don't know if I'd be able to swing it or not but definitely interested. _________________ Cause we are strictly business and we also got our pride

I don't know if you've seen this site or not. But I didn't hear that much about it this year either.

I know that anytime I ride with other girls, I get even more pumped to try new things. It isn't a competition either. There is just something to be said about having the female support behind you, especially when you always ride witha ton of dudes and you are usually the only chick.
If anyone at and around the Delta (Disco, Orwood area) wants to do a get-together, I would be down. |

How about the March or April timeframe. Giving us some time after Christmas for getting some cash together to come down and plenty of time for me to see if I can get any radio stations or other to maybe throw some free stuff our way ;o), check with the KOA, blah, blah, blah. I can call OWC and see what they have going on around then also, and see if we can get special group rates or something for Thursday - Sunday. They seem to be pretty nice.
Would you like to have a couple of coaches on site for one day or would a more casual riding environment be better?
I can get a little website together for people to sign up and let me know how many will attend, with whom (like me, I've got to bring my 5 yo - can't leave him at home), and for how many days.
Suggestions and feedback welcome.
Lisa

I have one break in Arpil. Otherwise i have school until June 16th. First off when can people go? Thats probably the most important. I would love it If i could kill two birds with one stone and go the week before/after I go to The Boarding SChool in order to avoid a ton of plane trips. But whatever works. _________________ Sliding Glass...It's what we do.

Another tip for making women a little more comfortable with the get together seems to be to make it ALL women.
I have seen these things done where the women are the riders, but there are men either driving or coaching, and the male ego/testosterone thing comes up again that it's fun to be without for a day. The ones I've been to without the male influence are actually a lot more relaxed and fun.
If you want to get a coach, try to find a female coach. I know that Cathy Williams has been involved with these in the past. If you are in orlando, she works at performance most often at OWC. If she can't do it, I'm sure she can suggest a different female coach who could come out to help you guys. |

leslisa, check out the Wakechicks website. Maybe you can coordinate, and have simultaneous events. Maybe there should be, along w/ Texas and FL, a Cali event, too. _________________ my demo reel

I'd definatetly be down to go too. Doesn't matter where in FL. I agree with patty to an extent, but sometimes it's fun to have the guys there to push around (since they'll have NO backup, as it's an all girl thing). I would say april would probably get a better turn out because of spring breaks. _________________ SlidingGlass.com

I vote not to have it during spring break because:
-It will cost more to travel during those times
- the location will be crowded due to all those people on their break
- it just won't be as fun & relaxing when everything is crowded. |

| In regards to spring break, you won't have a problem with Orlando, nobody goes there for spring break. The KOA is nice on Whipporwil. If it is a weekend my wife can attend, I know she would love it. I can drop the boat in the water for you girls then go hook up with friends on another lake. |

Lucky,
That sounds great. I'm still thinking of how we will do the boat thing. I will bring mine (of course ), but we will need a few. Hmm, things look like they could work out pretty well.

I know that in the past some shops or boat companies have donated the use of a boat or boats to use for the day with promotion of them in the event. That's something that tiffany at wakechicks can probably help you out with the details on.
If you have enough boats on your own, that's cool. But it might be an option worth checking out... |

How many days would you want this to go on first off...? And mabye we could get a hotel/motel to give us a little bit of a discount if all of us stay there. I would love to go but one thing I have to consider is that I would be traveling by myself and unable to rent a car being that i am only 16, possibly 17, when it comes around to it. I might be able to stay with a friend and make him pick me up and whatnot, but I would obviously have to see what he thinks about that hah. I also think that anytime after mid June would rock since most of us are in school. _________________ Sliding Glass...It's what we do.

June 17, 18, 19, and 20 are the tentative dates. I need to make certain there are no major wakeboarding competitions that day before we completely committ. Let me know if anyone's school doesn't end by this date.
A special thank you to Tiffany for your advice )

June is awesome, i know most colleges get out in like mid-may, and a lot of high schools early June, but the getting from airport is also i thing for us girls that aren't 21 yet, even though we can drive. I know me and hopefully Jen are going to try to hit the boarding school in june so anything close to that would be awesome. _________________ If it didn't hurt it wasn't worth tryin |

SWEET! I'm done with work the 15th of June so I'm in. Not sure if I'll fly or drive I'll have to work on that. Now the question is where will this event be held? _________________ Who is that masked.....

I'm working on location now. I have a few leads, one of them is Whipoorwhill, but you have to camp there to ride on the lake so I'm looking at other options too. It is an awesome lake though, just private.
Since this is an all-girl thing, I'm also thinking of offering the option of having a 1 -3 roommates to split the cost . $35 per person per night if 3 people stay in a room at Embassy Suites and they would offer free breakfast too. Lots of ideas and I'm always open to others too. Lots of time to think about it. I'll be more able to focus on this after the holiday dance I coordinate for 800 people is over.

Hi Lisa, glad I could help some. I hope that gave you some ideas of what to expect.
I would love to make it down for the event, however, I may have a conflict with the dates. I won't know for certain until it gets a little closer. I do hope that I can make it, I think it will be an awesome event.

I don't know what you girls think about cable parks, but I know OWC would give a decent rate for a big group. But there are so many lakes in Orlando, it shouldn't be too hard to find a good area to ride in! _________________ SlidingGlass.com

| I would love to do this, but I really want to board sooner than June, b/c i can't stand the winter here. I think it would be fun to do it in march or april when all of us who live in the cold are going wakeboard-crazy. Maybe we could do two? My best friend and I would totally be done to come board with all the ladies, but by June I can go here. Anyway, it's just an idea, and i know you guys are all pretty set on June, but just throwing it out there. This sounds awesome, and i think it's a great idea!!! |

Hi chicas!
For those who want to come down end of March, beginning of April, nothing formal, but I'm going to be in Orlando, with a boat and willing to give a pull. We will be camping. PM me, I'll let you know when and where. We won't be too far from OWC or the airport, so I'm sure we can work something out if you need a ride or something. For this one, my hubby and my kids will be with me.
For those who want to participate in a "Girls Only" event something for June - I'm thinking June 25, 26, & 27, with Saturday, June 26 being our "formal" day and the other two days more laid back. I am going to try to be off every Friday this summer (I love my boss ) so I am hoping to be able to set it up and still get decent grades. I only know of 1 amateur event (in Texas) and 1 pro event (in Switzerland) that weekend. Please let me know if you know of something else scheduled. I think I can get at least one or two coaches out there to help us out.
Any and all feedback is appreciated. I'll be working on the website and other details this week - if I can. I also have a research report to write this week in my "off time".
