Well, I finished my cans and I just thought I show my recent speaker project using the cans I got from Raul. I think they turned out pretty good. They look better than my last setup and sound much better. Anyway, here they are.

Total Cost $545 with everything.

Where did you get the ends / caps for those cans. I'm redoing some tubbies I have and I want to cap off one end. So far the best I've found is a thick plastic which I painted with a chrome spray paint. Totally ghetto in comparison.

One more question - does your dash switch only control the tower speakers? How did you wire that? Through the amps remote wire?

Thanks Guys. I'm totally stoked you guys like em. The cans were made by Precision Metal Works (aka Raul) and are freaking great looking. I think they might make the end caps themselves.

The switch is just a two way toggle switch that I picked up at the local Electronics store. I split the remote wire off the head unit and ran it to the switch (soldered connections) and then back to the amp. Took about 30 Minutes max fishing and zip tying the wire securely under the dash. Instant on/off for the tower speakers. Since it turned out so well, I'm probably going to add an inline volume adjuster similar to the one in the other thread soon.

how difficult was the welding of the arm to attach to the tower? getting the same angle etc?

Those look awesome. I am getting my speakers in the mail today and I am very excited about putting them together this weekend. It was great that you posted a step by step process of putting these together. Since I am getting the exact same speakers as you have, it is nice to see someone else's work before I start my own job in a few days. I will post some pics of mine as well for you to check out. The clamps just bolt on to the arm. The arm was put on by the can manufacturer (Raul @ Precision Metal Works here in Sacramento). I just lined them up and bolted em up.

I am in the process of building my cans and I am just wondering why you used the foam insert. Was it to help in mounting the crossover because non of the inside walls were flat enougth to mount it on its own. Did you attach the foam to the bottom of the can (opposite the end where the speaker is mounted) or on the side of the can that is opposite the mounting bracket? I am just trying to figure out the best way to do this and since you have already done it I thought you may be a good resource. All I have left is to mount the Brown Bread sound damping and then wire up the speakers with the wiring I have already made. Thanks for your help. Question

I mounted it opposite the mounting bracket or side as you call it. The position depends on where you mount the speakers. Above the tower like Mickey Mouse Wink

or below. I used heavy duty commercial velcro to hold the stiff foam and the x-over (yes, it is because of the curved inside surface and it was all I could think of at the time), but if I was to do it again, I would mount it with spray foam. Once the spray foam is dry, it will set up like glue.. This is how the manufacturers that make these things in quantity mount the x-overs.. Found that out too late at the Boat show this weekend. Wish I would have thought of it. I just hope mine stay put. They should with all the poly I installed in there. But, I'm thinking I may need to remove some of it.... I think I'm limiting the volume potential a little too much. Anyone know if there's such a thing as too much poly? It's not touching the speaker or anything... If I do take some of the poly out, I'll probably remount the x-over if it looks like it's coming loose.
