cameraboy, no word on sentencing yet. And no doubt, Ken Lay and the Enron fools as well as Bernie Ebbers from Worldcom are much worse white collar criminals.

Martha screwed herself by lying in the first place... If she told the truth this wouldn't even have been an issue.

Lynsey, I think shes worth billions and her stock has jumped in the last few days. As for her going to jail,i hope she dosnt. Have any one of you stoped to think how much taxpayer money was spent to put this case together and prosecute it over 51,000 dollars. Yeah she cheated and got a heads up before the rest of the people who had stocks in imclone. I think the real crime is we the people had to foot the bill for probably upwards of 10-15 million, all so some prosecutor or investigator could take down stewart and build up their career on it. She broke the law, yes, but why spend 10 million to bust her for 51000. Thats just stupid to me.

I think they need to make an example of Martha Stewart. It makes me sick that all these rich CEO's think they can do whatever they please and when something goes wrong, they can just buy their way out of it. With the recent activities of high profile companies, accounting scandals and fraud, confidence really needs to be restored in the markets don't you think? Citizens want to feel confident in their investments. How would you feel if you lost half your money in ImClone while some multi-millionaire gets a tip and sells at peak value? The rich get richer and the poor get kicked to the curb. Evil or Very Mad

base, Stewart didnt steal no money from anybody. She committed insider trading. she got a tip that the stock was gonna take a stuff and sold her shares. Nobody got screwed except for us for having to foot the bill for her trial

Im am not condoning her actions, i am simply stating the fact that this trial cost the taxpayers a stuff load of cash. I dont think she should get off free. She broke the law but we are paying for it along with her, i think thats crap. Rather than see her go to jail I think she should pay all the court costs plus a fine. Then no one looses. the prosecuters get their conviction, she gets her freedom, and we dont have to pay the bill.

ontrider, I dont have any exact figures but just took a shot in the dark. I figure that a high profile case such as this is gonna have more resources dedicated to it. Im sure that it would have cost way more than the 51000 that she swindled to assemble this case and prosecute it, let alone if she goes to jail, we are paying for her stay.
