you might want to demo the gate frist if you can... you need alittle bit more expreience on it becuase there isnt much edge if your riding finless. what i mean is when your cutting into the wake heel side if you dont have that much of board control it will slip out because of the angle that makes the tail go up, is all smooth and not a sharp edge

| I think that the gate is way to long I mean the berly is a 107 and its to big for some kids and the gate is a 114.... But I would love to hit the pickneck table at odub with one because they have thoose kick tails so I would think that nose and tail presses would be way easier

Actually, the gate is supposed to ride like a short board because that 114 cm measurement includes the kicktails, so the running length that's in contact with the water is much shorter than that...

| The gate is an expensive gimmick. You can tell they rushed production, it has alkinda flaws. With all the big shot pros hyperlite has riding for em you'd think they would have R&Ded it a little more. I've rode the gate twice here are a few problems: too light, the edges are sharpe like knifes, all it's really good for is water manuals (leaning back, woo-hoo), very incosistant 4 nose/tail press, no good 4 noseslides, i could go on but why. Lucky 4 you hype fans i hear byerly's got something good planned for 05.

| grubb and byerly dont ride it but why would they they are perfectly happy with the boards they have. the gate was designed by people on hyperliets wakeboard team not any of the wakeskaters(i dunno but maybe they helped) one hyperlite rider rides the gate. its a godd idea probably not gonna revolutionize the industry but its different. its kinda funny how when hyperlite trys to be innovative and come out with something new they get ripped on but when cassete came out with the 4 trac no one was calling it a gimmick.

I'm not telling anyone what board to ride, i'm just giving my opinion to someone who asked.

Actually, people did question the gate...many people didn't get it or understand it. It was like "how do you do a locked in 50-50 on it?" "why is it called a 4 trac when it has six fins?" blah blah blah. but I think the shape has been proven and it's not a big deal anymore. but people are still questioning the a-sym. deck, so....

i have an 04 catalyst and i really dont like it to say the least. i rode a cassette concave the other day. i just like the feel of the cassette alot better because i skate and it feels alot more like a skate board.
