I saw an article on wakeskates were people stood on thier board underwater and started like that. Would that be possible on a wakeboard?
If so i would like to teach my dad to get up that way because he is too impatient and tries to pull himself up.

| Wouldn't it just pull you and leave the board? |

You'd still think it would be hard.
You should look in the Newbie forum I think there is a thread on getting up. Should help your dad. |

This is how many of the pros get up. It's suppose to be easier on the back with less strain. You just have to have good balance for it. _________________ Jon

| You need good board control. Basically you float standing on the board, then as the rope gets tight you bend you knees and lean back and just hold on. It's actually pretty easy for an experienced boarder but you need to control the board and be able to feel the way it's moving so that it comes up out of the water. |

Thats the way I often get up, just a matter of keeping your heels up, and your knees kinda bent. Its much easier than all the crouching. Though I never teach a beginner to get up that way. _________________ ODPC |

| It's harder to get your balance right when you start like that. But, once you've got it figured out, it's easier physically. Because of the fact it's harder to balance, I would never teach a newbie that way. |

Shizzle, I never thought of back strain. I get up without turning my board (kind of like a butterslide right out of the water). It looks semi-cool but dang it feels like it ripped your shoulders out the next day. |

You should be getting out with your board like that. If your arms feel like that maybe whoever is driving is going too fast to start. You don't need to be yanked out of the water on a wakeboard, you should just need a gradual steady pull. |

Wicked Bite, You should watch all or nothing. I can't remember who's section it's in but they were completely submerged and then the boat gradually took off and the rider just rose up out of the water kind like doing the elevator behind the couch.
that's how i get up...just basically standing on my board with my knees slightly bent and the toe edge a little higher than the heel edge. It gives you lift as you are pulled forward.
....very easy on the body. its smooth and solid. but ya gotta know how to get up the other way first. _________________

I guess I'm pro now... I have showed a few people this way and once they get the hang of it they thank me, it really does save your back.
You don't need to point the nose one way or another or have a tip higher than the next. You can have the board completely square to the boat (toes facing boat) and you will still pop right up. _________________ PEACE

I always do the same... i ask the driver to slowly take of and when there is some tension on the line i sort of "stand up" and then the driver take`s of !
real easy.. just needs some timing..! |

| Yep that's the way I do it too. It's really easy. Just sit there with your elbows on your thighs and your feet straight below your knees. It really is quite easy. Just hold on. Most beginners try and fight the board to the surface, in reality the board reacts to the water just the same when it's a little below the surface, it wants to go on the top so you just let it go where it wants. |

| ...thats actually the way I come up on my wakeboard too. I totally submerge it with my toes angled up a bit, & it works just like a wing...producing lift. If you feel more comfortable coming up on a wakeboard, try doing it on that a couple times, then bust out the skate & you'll have it nailed |

| Yeah man that way is a lot better. Just be sure to keep your toes up so you dont go under the water completely. THAT SUCKS! |

I ALWAYS get up like this.
ITs relaxing because you are just standing in the water rather then being on ur back. Then just let the boat pull u up, put a littl more weight on ur heels and viola |

Yeah, its so much eaiser on your back getting up "standing-up". It is really easy too, just like everyone else said when the line gets tight and you lean the board back and you just get pulled up right on top of the water. _________________ Got premier? |

| Thats the way you have to get up behind my friends 30hp outboard fishing boat. Check out the picture in my profile... You gotta like stand up with the skate as horizontal as you possibly can without it coming off your feet just to get out of the water. I've spent 45 seconds dragging the normal way... it just wont happen. |

Wakebrad, I can get up behind a 30hp. I've even heard of people getting up with a 15hp. Its not the only way. _________________

| I learned to get up behind a 30 year old 35 hp that was probably only pushing out 25 or 30 hp. It's definitely possible the "normal" way. Once I figured it out, it only took like 5 seconds to pull myself up. |

| I weigh 185 lbs though... and the wakeskate was a 40" I believe = ). I could get up the normal way on a board but with the skate... I had to turn that thing horizontal to get it out of the water. |
