If you want to get big air from the cable there are a few things you should do.
First of all, when you want to do a trick for the first time, try doing it right after the last corner, the one closest to the startingpoint. That's were the cable tension is good and you're close to the shore, which is nice.
Second is choosing a trick, I don't know what your ridinglevel is but I'm just assuming that you are a beginner. I'm also assuming that you are a rightfooter. So you should start by trying as backroll, this will give you the softest crash if you don't quite get the airtime you were hoping for.
Third is actually doing the trick.
When you just have past the last corner and are at the point were you started you run you have to make a strong progressive edge to your right. Try to cut for about three/four meters, you should feel the cable tension trying to pull you back under the cable. At this point you try to push your right heel straight into the water, do this fast! If you do so you will block your wakeboard in the direction the cable is turning, the only way your board can go now is up. So if you block your board immediately look over right shoulder, really put you weight in it! This will make you roll over your back. Make shure that you are keeping the handle neer your hips, this will improve your rolling speed, if you don't do this you will roll slow and probably hit the water before you've completed the backroll.
This is about all the advise i can give you.
Remember, only make a controlled move, don't injure yourself by doing something you aren't ready for!
Good luck m8

I'm not sure what you mean.
If you're asking me if you can do tricks without edging to either side of the cable the answer is: Yes you can but, you will never get close to the hight you will get if you follow my instructions. You could do ollie tricks like 180's and 360's eventhough those are also easier if you try them next to the cable instead of under.
Hope I answered your question, if not, please say so.

| you feel the line tension reduce after you miss you point to release. Cut a few time and try to figure out when that is. |
