Ok, im just getting irritated with finding a board...I learned on a 140cm board. I'm 119 and like 5'9" i have long legs, not to sound dumb. My bf thinks that if i get a board shorter than a 130 ill hate it cuz of that fact...ive wakeboarded one season (our season is 3 months) im to the point of jumping/clearing the wake so with that experience level and my height and weight what do you guys recommend? sorry to bother you about this so often but i dont want to spend alot of money on something i dont like or wont ride the best on.

I would go with a 135, or around there, its really a universal size and fits everyone i know comfortably, i've had a 14 girl on it up to a 6'0'' 190 pound guy, and everyone i know likes how it rides, its a 135 premier btw. Some board shops actually let you rent boards, so if you are really iffy, just go rent a couple and compare before you buy. Good luck

My advice would be demo some boards, then you can find out which one you like the best. I'm 5'8" and I have long legs also and I ride a 135 (Premier). The size is really a personal preference, some people like the way bigger boards ride and vice versa.

Demo boards.....check out the premier 135, a temet, prodigy and absolute if you can. Im 5'5" and I ride a cwb prodigy 132, it fits me perfect. Consider whether you want a loose/grippy board, 3-stage/continious rocker, forgiving landings...etc before you demo, or pick one out. Definatly try out a few different companies.

Hey wakebaby,

The key term here is DEMO if you can, there's a bunch of variation in how boards ride and how you (want) to ride the board...sooooo, go out there and try 'em. Shops want to sell and they know in order to make a sale they're going to have to let you try. so talk it around with some shops and see...the 135 length seems right but there's more to a good ride than just length - isn't that right ladies? (Sorry, that just sorta slipped out...) Seriously, width is also important (yeah right) no joking - with variation in amount of rocker and type - 3-stage vs. continuous, bottom design (molded in fins) number and shape of fins - all these things DO make board ride differently.

As is true with alotta sports, as you become proficient you'll be able to tell the difference and consequently want a certain "feel". So it really IS difficult for someone to make the call for you, that's why you'll see folks suggesting you demo boards. sorry again for the inuendo, it just sorta happened that way - I really don't want to offend anyone...

Keep ridin', you're doin' great....

Sorry I kinda listed some off the most aggresive boards on the market hah. Like wakeboarder_124 said the LF Trip is awsome, I had one. Then I won the prodigy and it had my name on it and i fell in love so i sold the trip. But the trip is an awsome board and right inbetween begginer and advanced.

wakebaby, I can understand if you can't demo a lot of boards. That can get expensive if you don't have a hook up. Most places charge $20 per demo and only will give it back to you if you buy a board from their shop. Also, you may not be able to tell a huge difference between one or another yet. In that case, I'd go with a 135 or 136 with a continuous rocker. I'm 5'4" and ride a 136 and love it. If you're looking to save, see if you can find a 2003 demo Hyperlite Belmont or LF Trip. I've seen the old Belmonts go for $200 and less. The Temet is an 04 and is very pricey right now. Good luck!

www.trinityboardshop.com , im pretty sure thats the right address, but not positive, Meaghan Major runs it and will let you demo a board for 30 days or 3 weeks (?). Unfortunatly its only HL, but its a pretty sweet deal, check it out.

what are you currently working on? That would probably help us give you a better idea.

Hm, be patient girl. I took 3 to 4 months to do my homework on the boards before eventually owning it. During the time, it's about what boards are there in the market, understanding the features, asking for opinions/reviews, demo-ing the boards, evaluating ur demo, searching for deals/prices etc. Because it's an expensive investment, careful planning is needed. Don't rush into it. You would need to know what you want also.

In terms of rocker, I would recommend continuous rocker for a beginner. Premier boards are popular, it has 3-stage rocker, has a looser feeling, if you like the feel on it, then go ahead. But Premier boards, you really have to demo and compare and not just think that it's popular so you get it. Always remember, everyone has different riding styles from you.

Hm, I'm more familiar with O'Brien/Hyperlite/Liquid Force, so I shall reco some boards to you. O'Brien Rail 137. Hyperlite Divine 134/Motive/Juvi/Belmont. Liquid Force Diva/Trip. The boards can be from any year.

For Hyperlite right, Divine has a fixed length of 134. Motive+Divine share same features, just that motive has a greater choices of lengths. Juvi is quite smiliar to essence but at a length of 137. Belmont is the most advanced board of that line, simply cos of its fins configuration/material(aluminimum), other than that, the boards are of the same line, almost same features.

Liquid Force Trip is really good buy. You can search for reviews and verify for yourself. It has a wide variety of lengths, so you can find one suitable. Its fins configuration lets you play around with it, say you have progressed, you can put in smaller fins, or switch the fins, as they are removable.

Demo the board is really important. Or try riding at different places that carry different boards with your friends, normally when you go riding, equipment are provided, in that sense you can try the board without having to pay for demo fees. If you don't want to demo boards, it's still fine, but BINDINGS, it's a die-die-must-demo thing, this you must know.

Hm, do you have budget? Where are you from?

You can get deals on ebay also. Don't buy an expensive board, try looking in closeout deals, auctions, or 2nd-hand, or in such forums, there are people selling boards. 2nd-hand doesn't mean not good, it may be super new and cheap! Really.

Any more qns, just post, we'll try to help. As for bindings, I didn't recommend cos i only ride Parks bindings.

Oh yes, if you wish to know more about boards in such forums, you go to the search function, type in the board's name for easy reviews/opinions.

I wouldn't go below a 133 board, you can't go wrong with a trip/balance/team - I think you would be happy with a 133 to 135 board, I'm short at 5'3" and I have a difficult time with spins on the 137/138 size boards.....

you really should demo a trip/balance/team - a lot of girls really like these type boards.....plus they can be loose if you like surface stuff..... Wink

The team is an awesome board! A belmont is good too for somewhat beginners, or temet as it is now.

Well, with our short season I didn't get a chance to get much farther than basically jumping and clearing the wake. I would really like to get 180s and 360s down at LEAST this next summer. My boyfriend's family just bought a Tige so I should progress a little more this summer since last summer I was just behind a 92 Glastron, although I think it was a great learning boat, I think that you can only get so far behind it. And what about you? What are you riding?
