I went snowboarding yesterday Sad It's going to be a loooong winter. I look at my board everyday. Snowboarding reminded me of how much I hate to wear all of the layers, the cold weather.....and snowboarding itself. Time to start saving up some $ so I can get out of the snow and down to Fl. I have watched a wakeboarding vid, looked at one of the mags or been on this site every day since its snowed. Im going insane... Twisted Evil

Snowboarding is fun, but it doesn't even compare to wakeboarding. I also hate putting on all those layers and then still getting cold, it sucks! I want to go wakeboarding so bad, I watched a video today, it made me want to go even more. I need to get going on buying a drysuit, but I'm broke Sad

Putting on the layers sucks. I did that for wakeboarding today actually. Now that the season has changed, it is drysuit riding time. No more just hoping into the water with a lifevest.

I had no idea how tiring it can be to even put a drysuit on. Plus, riding in them is so constricting! But I plan on doing a lot of wakeboarding this winter. I don't care what it takes...I do plan on getting some snowboarding in as well. I want to mainly do that to practice riding switch.

I could never get into being around snow.....even went skiing ( days before snowboarding) once in shorts.
Hated the layering ...reminds me about the lil kid from " Christmas Story" couldn't put his arms down from all the clothes.
I can't stand the Drysuit thing either...the seal around the neck makes you feel like your head is about to explode from the constriction.
Now that I live in FL, it's only a wetsuit & rash guard or top......but it hasn't gotten cold enough for that yet either.

I kind of like the "marshmellow man" effect. Hehehehehehe Drysuits are quite cumbersome and take a lot of energy to get them off. I would have to wait six months or so to ride again if I didn't wear one!

Dragonlady8- I got to get my ass out to Florida one of these days!!!!

I've been snowboarding once and im already over it. I feel like my feet are too close together (even on all the way out) because wakeboarding I can control so much more of the board because my bindings go farther apart. For some reason I feel so much more restricted, stange hah. I think its because im not really a parkrat, i just carve it up. And I love all the butter stuff in wakeboarding, shich just isn't the same in snowboarding.

I miss Fl, Sad I'm in love with it haha. i think im going to work everyday for the next 4 months of summer and move to FL. Very Happy

When I went snowboarding last year, I had a tough time just getting myself off the ground. I was so used to having a boat pull me up. At least with snowboarding, I'll have the opportunity to really work those abs.

I still need to work on the whole lift thing. I am usually the one the lift stops for because I constantly slip and fall on my face, usually pulling down with me whomever I am riding the lift with....

LOL, P-Chick, I know how that lift thing goes. When I first learned how to snowboard me and friend went and when we would go to get off the lift for some reason we always ran into each other and then fell down. It was pretty funny they had to keep stopping the lift because of us. It took me quite some time to get the whole lift thing down and even now I'll fall and pull someone down with me Laughing

I'm lucky in Arizona, I have yet to even put a wetsuit on! I'm still comfortable in just a neoprene top, hoping to just get away with my wetsuit for a few months over winter. I may be able to put the drysuit away for good Very Happy I can't wait to go snowboarding though!

Just a quick offer, since I'm in Florida, if anyone drives/flies down here and needs a place to stay for a few days, and if you don't mind the couch and a sleeping bag, my door is always open. It would give me an excuse to take a day or two off to just wakeboard Very Happy . I do love my job, but any time away is time away.

I'm sad that my hubby doesn't get any time off at Christmas, I don't have anyone else who will drive for me and I'll be off from 12/24 - 1/2. Sad

Oh well.

Lisa

Leslisa, what kind of boat do you have? Where about in florida do you live? I am seroiusly going insane w/o wakeboarding, and i don't think i can make it till next summer, so i was thinking about going down to florida to board for a few days over winter break. If you're serious, i might really look into it and come down with either my fiance or best friend. Let me know where you live, and I'll see if i can come down! Thanks.

Hey Betsy Surprised). I have a 1985 American Skier. It's like a Ski Natique. I have 2 portable fat sacks and people weight always helps. My hubby is working on putting a Semi Truck battery in the boat for me to add extra weight that will actually has some value (kind of like the trolling motor I keep in there. I cannot see me paddling anywhere - weight with a purpose - gotta love it Laughing ).

I'm on the east coast just south of the space center. Near the beach. PM me and I'll give you more specifics.

I was serious about the offer. I'll have to OK it with hubby if you are bringing your fiance, but he's pretty laid back about stuff generally. Only thing he will ask is how old you are, as he would rather no one under 18 ride on the boat without parental consent, but we can probably work something out if you are. I think that lawyer on TV is getting to him.

Lisa

Surfing, its a beautiful thing, throw on a 6mm wetsuite, the bodyglove boots and gloves and go, any time of the yr. My friend actually has a video of iscles forming on the hood of his wetsuite. Plus you get to be in the water, an after you've broken in your wetsuite it only takes like 10min to get in an 20min out, even faster the more you go, I always take forever at the begin. of the winter season but by the end I can get in an out under 5 min. The only thing that sux is that the boards can be so huge they're a pain in the butt to carry arround. The only thing that gets really cold is your face, cause its the only thing exposed, but you get to moving arround an the rest of your body stays plenty warm. I remember the air temp was like 23F or sumthin like that and I was sweating in my 6mm, jus from trying to get out past the breakers. If your lake has frozen over or you've pulled your boat out, I highly recomend pick'n up a surfboard an the rubber to go with it.

up here in the cold north, its really hard to wakeboard with out goin into the hospital with frostbite, which we still go into the water occausually, but snowboarding finds its purpose, when you live the the cold, you get use to it, snowboarding only sucks for the first couple of days caus your on ground not water, so when you falls, its hurts, but the coldness makes it feel worse, you get use to it, and i love snowboarding more and more every time I go. Its grows on you like wakeboarding does.

I go snowboarding every winter when I go home for the holidays. This past one was the first time I've been snowboarding since I started wakeboarding. The whole time, I just kept wishing I was on the water.... Sad

I went snowboarding for the first time last week and my ass is still sore. Damn, it's a lot more painful than wakeboarding. I'm gunna stick with it though, anything to help my wakeboarding, not a fan of the cold either though. I would love to be somewhere warm where i could wakeboard all year round.
