Ok so i just bought a 2001 glastron gx205 20' boat, with a volvo/penta 5.7 270hp engine, it is going to be more or less a nice family boat, but i am very interested in getting my 6yr old, and 12yr old into wakeboarding, they are avid snowboarders, but we are moving from the snow, so i thought this would cure thier snowless anger!!..
anyways, my questions are these,
1) should i get a pole kit (does not hve a factory pole) or a tower?
2) what brand of towers look as sick, and sweet of the glastron boat, as on some of the wakeboarding specialty boats?
3) does anyone have any pics of a glastron with a tower?
I was considering the monster tower, but i like the agressive look of the roswell ones a little more, and monster wont match powdercoat color, like other manufatures...
please keep in mind when answering this question, i dont have $3000.00 to spend, and also, this needs to be easily taken off (like the monster one)

I have a 1997 Glastron GS225. I am fairly new to this site, and posted a similar question about towers. I did a LOT of research, and got a huge response from the people here. So here's what I found out. I was going to get a Monster Tower but I just didnt like the way it looked. It didnt look like part of the boat. I am sure they are a great tower, and they come highly recommended, but they are just not my taste. I also looked at Skylon, Phat Tower, 13th floor and numerous others. On a tip from "JD" (thanks again dude!) I finally decided on a Samson tower. www.samsonsports.com This is by far the best looking tower for our style boat. They custom build each one to match the lines of your boat. Glastrons usually have a lower profile windshield and this tower makes the boat look sweet. I ordered mine about two weeks ago and am waiting for it to arrive. Check out their web site, they have a pic of a Glastron with the tower on it. That picture is what sold me.( I posted it below)
As far as cost, Samson is not the cheapest out there, but not the most expensive either. My total cost was $2590.00. That's with four board racks. I know you said you dont have $3000.00 to spend, but the towers look sweet. Plus right now they have free shipping and as long as you dont live in the state of Washington, you dont pay sales tax. I know I sound like I am working for Samson, but I'm not. I just had a really good experience (so far) with those guys. Good luck!
Sincerly.....Dan Samson(just kidding:)

1. If you are all just learning, I think you could do without the tower/pole for 1-2 seasons. then if you all love boarding, as I expect you will, you can put the 2K for a tower into a more wakeboard specific boat. Anyway, I would wait a year for the tower/pole. It is not gonna make any difference until everyone learns good technique.
2. I would recommend a monster tower for price and quality. those samson towers look pretty darn good though, they are more expensive too.

Went boarding with a friend of mine that has a Phat Tower with integrated board racks (similar to the Samson tower) on his boat. All I can say is that I was less than found of having wet boards dripping on me throughout the day while I was sitting in the drivers and/or passenger seats. I guess my final and only comment would be, I'll take a bolt-on side mounted rack anyday over the built-in ones like Phat Tower does. Just my $.02.

I have put the Joystick Tower on several boats of your type. I can have it custom bent for you. Price depends upon what you want, but typically about $1,500 with racks.

cstmgsxr, a tower is going to open up more options to you and your boat. It will not only be better for riding, but also increases your storage if/when you throw on some board racks. Towers range in price from 800 on up. Titan makes a good tower and they just lowered the price on the Series I to approx. $1300. Custom colors are free.
You might also find some good deals in the classified sections of both wakeboarder and wakeworld.com
My recommendation is to browse the internet for the right tower at the right price. Wakeside.com is a good place to start. If your kids enjoy snowboarding, I have a feeling they will fall in love with wakeboarding. Good luck and keep us posted.

| If I am right, the glastron 20 footer should be very similar to the larson 20 footer. Roswell makes towers specifically for the larson 20 footer, so you misht look into that.

Pretty much all of the racks these days will fold down...Monster, Samson, Titan, Roswell, etc.
Does anyone make a tower anymore that does NOT fold for storage???

Check out the Wake Air towers at www.wakeair.com. I just got one for my Glastron GX 185 and had it powder coated to match.

Chris | Those look pretty nice. I would love to see a pic of one on your boat. They look very similar to the 13th floor tower I almost bought. What did it cost you total?

They are $1399 now, but I got it for less 'cause they were having a Christmas sale. Call Brian and see what he'll do. I went with them because they are completely custom made specific to your boat and I think they look more like a factory tower, as opposed to the "universal" towers.
I'll post a pic as soon as I get the racks and speakers installed. It's supposed to snow here tomorrow so it will be next week .
