Black is very hard to keep scratch free. It'll show every little scratch you make. Plus it's super hard to buff because even buffer wheel marks show up. But, it's up to you. Plus a black deck will burn the h*ll out of you in those 100 degree temp days. But, it's up to you.
Nice boat tho.

i'm not a malibu fan but that boat is ..SMOKIN... is that black up top and bottom. i bet tough to keep clean, waterspots and the heat generated off that is something to consider. If you live in a kinda cool weather enviroment i would get it.

peca,
Hey I think I've seen that boat before, O thats right its in my garage!!! I need to set you straight on the "Man I Beat That Gets Hot", Yes the black gel coat gets hot in direct sun light, but a BU's gunwales are narrower than must & Gator Grip is awesome for that spot, it not only keeps your feet cool, it makes a non-slip surface & looks sweet. Your more likely going to get it from the black tower. But as far as making the cabin hotter inside that's false. Our interior is white & the carpet is light gray so its not any hotter than a all white boat. As far as maintaining the black its as easy as white in my case, but I'm pretty anal when it comes to the boat, I just make sure I keep a good coat of wax on it above the hull & keep the hull protected with 303 protectant, that stuff is awesome, I feel its a must for anyone with a dark colored hull, nothing will stick to the stuff. Now the black will show scuff's easier, so you need to pay alittle more attenition to what your doing, but they can be removed with alittle TLC. The water spots do show, but if you keep it waxed & 303'ed, they whip right off when sprayed with some vinegar / water when you are whipping it down at the end of the day!!!
Yes the dark colored hulls are just a little more maintains, but I think its a fair trade when you see the boat & know you have the only 2003 VLX that looks like that!!!!

that is a sweet ride! It would look pretty good to with a polished tower...at least then you wouldn't have to worry about "getting it"

No doubt about it, black is THE best color IMO.
As the owner of multiple black vehicles, they are a motha to keep clean and scratch-free. If you are as anal as most of us on this board about your boat, and you spend the $$$ on good products, you can keep it clean with regular maintenance and a fair amount of elbow grease.
Quit thinking about it and get the damn boat!

I have a 2003 Wakesetter LSV with the same colors except the colors are reversed. I think white is cooler and easier to maintain. With a white tower and tower speakers it still looks good. I like black too but I'm not willing to maintain it.

| 91Excel, I want an all black VLX but my dad doesn't like the idea of water spots covering the hull whenever we get back home. Is it really that big of a problem?

jeffery_25,
The water spots are not that big of deal if you keep oit waxed from the hull up, 303 the hull & use vinager/water to spray it down while you are drying off after loading!!! Read my 1st post I coverd that & some other things! Let me know if you have anymore questions

There is an all black SANTE w/ a light blue thin stripe and an all black X-2 with a thin red strip on Lake Austin and they are both SO FREAKIN TIGHT!

Black just takes a little more care to maintain, but it's not impossible to maintain. Just takes an extra 5 minutes to make sure you've got all the water up. Use the spray wax every other time and try to keep your peeps aware of how easy it is to scratch. Not any worse than owning black cars. I've got two of those also. I won't lie, it's a beeyatch to get water spots out if you let it go.
