| I just bought a new VLX (pick it up tomorrow) and it has the XM ready head unit. I have XM in my truck, but am wondering what antenna kit y'all are using and where you are mounting it? |

Doesn't it have the large white one underneath the dash? The first ones I saw had it and it was amplified. _________________ My opinion is my opinion!

| Sales guy had zero idea, I'll ask service. It may have the antenna, pretty sure I'll need to get the "module" that goes with it though. |

| The antenna is only installed if you order the Sony XM module from the factory (which, like the rest of the stereo options is a waste of money). |

Well, the '04 Supras use a kenwood setup. I dont know if it's the same head unit that Kenwood sells on the retail market, but I would assume it is. Now, since Supra and Moomba both have the same parent company, it would make sense that they would use the same suppliers... So, if all this holds true, you're looking for this:

Except that the question is with regards to Malibu, not Moomba. |

Stopped in at Best Buy and the guy there said the below module would work with the Sony...I might go to an actual stereo store to find out for sure...when I say module, just the unit behind the dash and scrap the interface.

If you're going to go that route, I'd suggest the Delphi XM reciever, plus the car kit and FM modulator. The modulator kit includes a power source and goes inline between your antenna and your FM reciever, plus it sounds very clean. I have this setup in my truck b/c I didnt want to pay 1300 or so for the GM reciever for the Bose stereo. Anyways, I'm going to be using the same reciever in my boat, just with a different cradle (car kit) and FM modulator. Plus, its only one bill each month! _________________ I eat Vegans. Medium-Rare.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing- however | Quote: |

I am planning to use a normal car antenna as opposed to the marine versions. I am planning to mount directly in front of tower light (on 2004 XLV)- I think that the marine antenna is built to withstand saltwater damage because a normal truck gets wet in the rain, while being washed etc.. so I know it's water proof. Plus the marine antenna are large (= greater reception?) and more expensive. |

Sorry dude, no idea what XM is, I'm just talking about regular old AM/FM radio. Is XM like Marine Radio or CB? I have one of those, it's not power. I don't think power Marine Radio antennas are legal here in case they fail. _________________ Terminate high thinking |

criminally_minded, XM radio is fee-based digital satellite radio offered in the contiguous 48 US states. Typically, it runs $10/month and you get around 100 stations. Also, there's sirius satellite radio. I dont know what the monthly charge is, nor do I know what the monthly fee is, but it's also offered in the US mainland. Some car audio manufacturers offer XM compatibility and some offer sirius.

hmm... I dont know. I would figure you're in the same proximity to the satellite whether you're in the city or at a remote lake. Also, autos tend to deal more with going under overpasses and bridges than boats do. Well in most situations anyways. The Delphi unit I have has only had reception break up once or twice, and that was near a rather large transformer with a lot of powerlines goint in and out. I would assume it had something to do w/ the EMI (electromagnetic interferance) signature of the power station. Also, sometimes at night the signal drops one or 2 bars, but I think that would have more to do with the position of the satellite in orbit... this doesnt happen all the time. All in all, I listen to normal FM radio less and less. _________________ I eat Vegans. Medium-Rare.

I have been told that there is no signal past five six miles out in the gulf- That seems to contradict
