|
|
Ok, I tried wakeskating a couple of times this summer and thought it was a blast. I see why it is growing so fast. But when I tried hitting the wake, I got launched but couldn't keep the board glued to my feet. Do I need to ollie once i hit the wake or what. I ollie off the wake on my wakeboard and get a lot higher but I just tried it a few times this summer and didn't really try anything beyond surface tricks. _________________

| Yeah grab the board with your hand. Add some style. Just keep your feet flat and when in the air push down kinda. Keep the feel of your board under your feet. Really It just works itself out. I have never had that problem of gettin launched from it. Theres no crub. |

| I had the same problem. I think it just takes practice, I didn't hafta grab, the wake pushed so hard up on the board that I was just following it. |

| I have the same problem, although I don't wakeskate enough to worry about it. I can only get a little air or I lose the board. I just wish I could clear the wake but these days I wakesurf instead of wakeskating so I'll probably always suck. |

| Ok, it's pretty simple once you get the hang of it. Start with a nice smooth edge. When you hit the wake, you should ollie slightly (it's not even really an ollie, it's more the way you shift your weight) and suck your knees in a bit. In other words, you can't just push off or jump like you would on a wakeboard. Absorbing a little bit of your pop will help you stay in control. Have fun! |

I thought the question was answered in the first post--so am I the only one that glues the deck to my shoes? That's how I keep it glued to my feet... _________________ J.L.A. Is Snowboarding

Yeah, a handle is a good idea if you don't want to waste a good pair of shoes. Plus you can get your legit grabs down, you can do flips and hopefully (someday! keep your fingers crossed) a WHIRLYBIRD! _________________ J.L.A. Is Snowboarding

Sorry boys and girls, I have already registered the patent for wakeskate handles. You are all out of luck, my team will be throwing DOUBLE handle pass KGB's in no time. |

un-hijacking the thread now.
practice a lot of one wkae jumps and just let the wake pop up the board and just suck up your knees to let the board raise up with you. then when you are comfortable etake a good sized cut at the wake and when you hit it only stiffen your back leg(instead of both like on a wakeboard) this will bring the nose up allowing for more of an ollie. |

ontrider, yeah i saw where you put the handle...and...umm...it sucks. you know that you will never be able to touch me when it comes to wakeskating...
electricsnow, why waste a perfectly good pair of shoes? besides, its all about the crusty old flip flops and some duct tape. besides shoes are for pussies... _________________ www.TheLiquidPlayground.com

K...gettin air on a wakeskate...heres how i do it...charge the wake, just like on wakeboard, crouch down for teh same pop just like a wakeboard, then as your in the air, keep the back foot lower than the front foot, so the board kinda goes on an angle liek this / or \ and it'll stay on your feet, then as your coming in for the landing, start to level it out, you want the back of the board to hit first...hope i described it right and it makes sense...

Ok maby it's a stupid idea for me to post in this thread since i've never wakeskated , but if it's anything like hitting kickers on a skateboard, which it seems like it would be, just ollie off the wake and suck ur knees up as close to ur chest as u can. This will make the board actually push up against your feet so it doesn't drop below you.
Please correct me if i'm wrong anyone. _________________
