One of my friends just got a job around Corpus Christi, she's working there from march-july, so I might be out there sometime soon. When does the season start out there? Is Texas Ski Ranch the only cable park in TX?
Anyone board around Corpus Christi? We've got gas money and beer...

Congrats to your friend on the new job. Im pretty sure TSR is the only cable here in Texas. Our season hasnt really stopped, it's definately slowed down, but it's definately still going. If you find B-fly on this site, im pretty sure she is around the Corpus area (i think) but im not sure. Hope this helps. Good luck-

Hey Nick, whats up man?
Yeah TSR is the only cable park in Texas! I am a bit of a drive for you but our crew was thinking about heading down that way for a kitboarding trip.. and to party. I don't know if that is still a go or not, as we are in the midst of planning our 2003 season.. If you are ever in Houston hit me up or go to www.gulfcoastwakeboarding.com
Its a pretty sweet site.

| yeah, go surf in Corpus! I grew up surfing there. You should check out Bob Hall Pier, J.P. Juby Pier, and Fish Pass Jetties. Those are probably going to be the best surf spots in the area. The water down there should be warming up pretty soon..... |

Thanks guys, I let you know when I know when we'll be there. I'm probably going to go while she's trying to find an apartment to help her. She's not sure yet though if she's going to go out early or if she's just going to pack up and move and find a place once she gets there. I've got some old friends in Austin and Dallas, but I think that's a ways from Corpus.
I've always wanted to try surfing...

Otto - I was in Chorpus over Thanksgiving working in one of the offshore oil rig yards and I'm pretty sure there's not much there as far as wakeboarding spots go. Most of the time it's pretty windy down there in the spring (not sure about the summer).
She'll definitely want to surf though and there's always South Padre Island and Mexico to keep her busy. I'd recommend living up on the North West side of town (there's a mall there) it seemed to be by far the nicest place to be when I was there.
Chorpus is a pretty solid drive to Houston, Austin, etc. but San Antone wouldn't be too bad. Dallas is 10 hours or so but I flew Southwest.
Look me up if you're in around the Dallas area and I'll give ya a pull. _________________ I make my guardian angel work harder then yours. |

Drop me a PM if you head to Austin and we'll get you a pull or three.
Corpus to Austin is only 4 hours max. |

Is'nt the Northwest side of town around all of the oil refineries? I'd say look for a place to live around the S.P.I.D. Airline/Staples area. Or go out towards the island more....maybe the Oso area, Flour Bluff, or actually on the island itself. Everywhere else is getting sort of ghetto....
the S.P.I.D. area near Airline and Staples is right near the 2 malls and pretty close to anything else you might ever need.
I grew up on Padre Island, there are lots of nice areas to live there or in Flour Bluff. I'd try there in my opinion...... |

There is indeed a deal in dry counties in Texas where you have to purchase a card at restraunts to buy beer and alcyhol but it's mostly in far East and West Texas. I can speak from personal experience that you do not have to have any card or the like to drink in Chorpus.
You'll have to make a few trips to Mejico when you're there. _________________ I make my guardian angel work harder then yours. |
