|
|
I'm going to build a kicker on the lake at my cottage but i have a question. The start of the kicker, does it (the kicker) start in the water so you dont have to pop a bit of does it matter? if you do have to leave a bit in then how much? I know this might be confusing but what i mean is...does the ramp start below the surface of the water or does it float right on top??
thanks for answering my question |

its better to be under, i have never heard/seen any one ollie onto a kicker, only sliders, plus if the water gets lower, it will be messed up, you should put it under, so you can just ride right up it |

I set mine up so the leading edge was around 3" under the water and that wasn't quite enough. The fins are hitting and causing some small cuts just on the leading edge. I think I'm going to try about 5" next time I float it. |

hey whirlybird...if you build the kicker and see the the front end isnt down enough.....you can either pump some water into the front barrels....or set cinder blocks or some thin heavy in the frame work of te kicker to weigh it down.....its hard to tell exactly how its gonna sit in the water when you build em...
heres a pic of mine _________________ lata playas |

Ours extends about a foot under the water, you really don't want to mess that up. _________________ Terminate high thinking |

dude theres nothing really wrong with the island it could estend out and make it look like it is below the waterline in the pic. look at the link i gave the major problems are the wake looks weird the artificial looking cloud is strategically placed behind the rider and just look at the proportions of the rider and the riders body parts. |

ChumpChange, thanks!
mike7, we used a form of pressed wood which came with a white PVC coating, I believe it's used in bathrooms etc.
It came in 4ft x 8ft sheets, and as you can see we used 3, and used gaffa tape along the joints which works well.
We bought an extra sheet and cut it in half down the center and stuck this on the very bottom. This is the only one in contact with the water so every 6 months or so it needs replacing but it's about $22.00 a sheet so it's only $11.00 per replacement, much better than replacing an entire sheet. _________________ Terminate high thinking |
