Getting my system ready to install but i still need my subs. I am getting Kicker Solo Baric's but dont know what is best. Should i get 2 12" L5's or 1 15" L7. I am trying to stay in the $250 range. I can get the 2 12's for 259.99 and $32.99 shipping off ebay or $235.99 for the 15" L7. They will be powered by a 1400 watt amp so it will be the same power so what would be the best. I like the idea of just making one fiber glassed box but will i get the loudness out of the 15" with 700 watts rms or 2 12" with 350 rms each.

I would prefer the 15", I've had enough 12's...

It will hit soooooo looooow!!

Not to sure about the crunch amp though, back in the day Crunch wasn't known as the best quality....maybe it's different now.

I'd slap an Orion HCCA 1200 on that baby, just make sure it's a DVC (to lower ohm load) speaker.

That would probably rattle the boat apart!! Very Happy Very Happy

Amp specs are very deceiving...just cause it says it's rated for 5 gagillion watts doesn't mean it will do it.

My 2 cents

In your price range 2 12's. One 15 might hit a little lower, but it's a boat. It's free air you will never notice the lower freq. It's all about SPL in a boat with that much noise from the wind, water and engine.

I have 2 12" (one Ecplise Ti 12 and one Adrie Shiva) in my boat and they get louder than I really need. The Ecplise is running a sealed box and the Shiva free air. Pretty good combo, and I am only running a 300 watt Xtant amp.

If you good quality sound then 2 x 12s but if you want really low bass then 15.

In a boat there is alot of open air. Two 12s or one 15 are going have too low of a frequency response. You will here them but they will not be loud. The best subwoofer for a boat is going to be a 10. They have alittle higher frequency response and will be more audible in such an inconsistant environment. I have noticed that everyone tries to get as much power as they can to there speakers. This is not a good practice. Check to see what a speaker is rated for. You can get away with about 100 watts over what there rated for. When you get much over that the improvments are minimal and you will have a much higher chance of having to replace your speakers.

My Amp is rated 175x4 rms and you can bridge each side into a 4 ohm mono load which will be 2x350 rms. I am gonig to get the 2 12's in dual 2 ohm so i can wire them in series and have a 4 ohm load. thanks for the feedback.

as far as solo barics r concerned the 2 L5 12s mite sound a lil better...but the 15 L7 will hit like hell if u got the rite amp pushin it. but i've never heard n e thing w/ crunch amps pushin it so i couldnt tell ya how it would do w/ da L7. the L5 would b best w/ ur amp i think.
