I sold a wakeboard on Ebay and need to ship it. UPS and others though are giving me insanely high ($100) prices. If any of you (Especially those who might work at shops) know cheaper ways to ship it please let me know.
Thanks |

How did you get the outrageous quotes? I've never heard of anyone being quoted that much by UPS to ship a wakeboard. _________________ my demo reel

UPS should be about $25-30 for drop off shipping via ground delivery. FedEx ground is typically $17-25 for ground delivery. You need to establish a FecEx account via credit card on their site. The big deal is to get the total length of the package less than 56 inches, if possible. Also, duct tape the bindings down almost flat and box it so that you have the smallest box possible - it is an oversize package and you will pay accoring to the combined LxWxH figure.
Good Luck. _________________ Original Boarder from 1983

Go to a shop and get a box that they use. Sometimes they even have the foam that fits the ends and rails of the board. _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong. |

UPS quoted me $70+ to pack and send a board from MN to WA. I went to a shop and got a free box, and went to USPS and they shipped it priority for $18. _________________ My Gallery

Thanks everyone. I got a box from my local board shop and will ship it USPS.
I just sold a bunch of things on Ebay for my family and myself. My brother was in charge of shipping as I have finals. (Brother ships = no stress for me, right?)
Well, despite him getting half it's been the exact opposite. I guess he didn't check that well and that's why I ended up with the ~$100 shipping costs.
Again thanks for all your help. I knew I could count on wb.com! |

Yeah, the USPS will ship them fairly cheap (someone said 18.00 and that's about right). I just won a wakeboard that will be sent via fed ex and I only had to pay 12.00. However, I've found that length is definitely important because a couple of months ago I bought a thomas horrel turntable deck, which was like 147 cm and that goes over the 56 inch limit, so it was an oversized package and I think I paid something like 35.00 for shipping. I was trying to figure out if that was right, so I checked with the USPS and they would have charged something like 70.00 (at least) because it was so long. So length will be a huge factor because outside of that one deck, I haven't had a problem with outrageous shipping costs (even with bindings). Good luck. _________________ J.L.A. Is Snowboarding

| Man, I was quoted US$85 for shipping a wakeboard. And that was to *Japan*. And the quote was from a wakeboard shop. |

Be sure to pack the ends of the box up well. I ordered a new Hyperlite board from Bass Pro Shops last January and they did a terrible job of packing it. When ups delivered it the box had holes in both ends where the board's tips were and the board was actually damaged. I recomend wrapping both ends in foam or something. _________________ "Do not be alarmed, Continue swimming Naked!" - Chief Wiggum |
