When your riding how hard do you push your self? Do your ride within your limits or do try to push yourself to the next level?

You know, that is an excellent question, and one I have been thinking a lot about lately. Board sports, I guess any individual sport, is hard, IMO, b/c you have to push yourself to get better. Obviously, there is no team. And especially wakeboarding, we are out there so little that if we do not push ourselves each time we are out, we will not get better. There are a million excuses. I'm tired, hung over, drunk, stoned; it is too early, rough, late; etc. A lot of us, me too, get caught up doing the same shizzle all day and never get better. I think this is especially true with older riders. Anyway, I do not push myself enough.

Learing new tricks is usually just a matter of how many times you try it. If a 16 yr old kid tries it 20 times in one weekend, but i only make an attempt maybe twice everytime I go out, of course he learns faster.

I push myself way beyond. I´ve learned 16 inverts in this season+360, blinds with grabs... You just have to try it no matter if you´re scared. It´s always like that at new tricks. You fall a few times then land it, and after just fall to the rest of the day Smile . That happend when I landed my first s-bend... When I tryed the double s-bend, I never tryed it more than 3 times cause man that hurts, but I´m so close, and I know I can do it so I´ll just keep trying.

Nowadays I ride for fun, and don't really push myself that much. I do push a little but only in the summer when it's warm.

lately ive just been riding for fun. the only time when try hard at landing something new is when i know i will be riding two or more times in a week, and that hasnt happened lately for me.

personally i wakeboard for fun, not to be the best, so i treat it that way. if i suck when im out there, oh well. being good means nothing to me, but having fun does.

I ride for the fun of it, but part of that fun is pushing myself. It is much easier said than done though to try new stuff. I usually just beat the crap out of myself trying to fix something, then I will take a break, try again and stick it, then go back to beating the crap out of myselfI don't really push myself hard enough though. I just wuss out and end up getting even more frustrated than start doing stuff I know I can do no problem. When I go down to Fl, and ride at a camp with a bunch of other riders and Shaun Murray and Travis Moye I am wayy more pumped to try stuff, and much harder on myself because I have their support. At home I dont have anyone to suport me or help me push myself. Instead I am stuck in the boat with a bunch of people that are grumpy and don't want to get in the water that don't know how to drive and its all very frustrating. The other times I push myself is in competition. I have improved wayy more in one competition and a week of camp than I have this season and last season compbined because I had the support and the drive and everything was awsome (drivers, other people's stoke). I cant wait to go back to Fl Twisted Evil

i improved a lot this summer just cuz i was w/ a friend and we pushed eachother. It's hard to improve if u don't have someone to encourage and evaluate and tape your riding. you really learn a lot just by watching urself and listening to what others have to say....even when they really don't know what they're talking about

Have to push myself cause I want to catch up with the guys I ride with. That, and it`s my nature. I like being good at stuff, and it never gets old landing a new trick.

I push pretty hard, but I never forget I have to work for a living. It doesn't take much to put you on disability for a couple months. I push hard because I like progressing and sticking new tricks--but its gotta be fun! Very Happy
