The second annual Freeze For Life is here.
This is our second year for the event in which we aim for the following (1) to bring wakeboard and watersports enthusiasts together during the off season and (2) MOST IMPORTANTLY to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
The event will happen in just under two weeks on Saturday, December 13, 2003. Hot tub, refreshments, food, drysuits and equipment will be provided. . . all that we ask is you bring yourself and some money to donate to the American Cancer Society.
Those of you that attended last year can probably attest to the amount of items donated in regards to food, etc. The even better news is that the river is still open so we should be able to have it at the marina. . . what this means (heated buildings and bathrooms . . . woo hoo). This truly is a good time put on for a great organization. If you think you might be coming be sure to email over your name, etc. so we can get you on the list . . .
Thanks for all of your support,
Brian Huels

. . .also be sure to check out the midwest original cold water event . . . winter waterland. . .at www.winterwaterland.com . . . this year it is scheduled for January 10 and always guarantees to be a great time . . .

yeah, but then that means no "Ice Sliders" for Forrest!!!! Bare footers can wear shoes....or Sorel boots like Pat did.....
Make sure you tell your friends, because you never know what you are gonna see at an event like this or winterwaterland.

Brian, I'll be there. I'll bring my gear and see if I can muster up the courage to get in and fool around for a little. Can I buy insurance for the day?

I got a pledge sheet from brian if you email me at gmarkham1@ameritech.net I will forward it to anyone who wants it!
also here is some text from one of his messages
I am still working on getting all of the sponsors on the final flyer. . . .
Here is how it works. . .
$25 minimum donation makes you eligible for food, hot tub, riding, entertainment, etc.
$50 gets you all of the above plus a free t-shirt and $5 gift certificate for our store.
$100 gets you all of the above but a $15 gift certificate
$250 gets you all of the above but a $40 gift certificate
Those choosing to just watch or that do not raise enough for a free shirt can donate $10 and receive one (long sleeve).
The idea behind the event is that you raise money by asking friends, coworkers, family, etc. You then receive the benefits of your hard work by getting to ski, eat, relax, and possibly a shirt. That is really how it is designed.
People that participated last year that donated $25 on their own still felt that they got a steel of a deal. And that I guess really doesn't matter at all since all of the money is donated to the American Cancer Society. In collecting money you will want to get people's names and addresses (as well as any money donated) so that they will receive the proper receipt from the American Cancer Society.
Beyond that we will have two boats in the water, most likely one d-drive and one v-drive with weight for the wakeboarders. Everything will kick off at 9:00 a.m. and will last till sundown or so. After that we are working with a local bar for a place to go afterwords. At the bar we will most likely do some raffling of items, and playing of new wakeboard DVD's (Black List, Caguamas, etc.) That should sum it up. If you have specific questions on something let me know.
Brian

Tyrol is open? Do they have any rails in, or just snow?
I am bringing my snowboard equip, so as long as there is snow, we can go ride on Sunday. (currently it is raining out here)
Has anyone heard from Christian, or the rest of the soulriders crew? Are they coming out for F4L?

Forrest,
I put a post up on www.soulriders.com about the F4L, to see who was going. I haven't heard from Chris, Janine, Mike and the crew. I hope they come out though.

midwest_militia, Jackie? What happened to... aww nevermind. I'm not sure yet. I'll ask around tonight to see if anyone is up for it. Doesn't look promising considering we just got 12" of beautiful powder to play with.

Damn, damn, damn, I'm not going to make it.
I have an electrician that I have to help out on Saturday morning, cause it would be nice to have electric in my kitchen for once. After we, hopefully, finish the wiring, I am going out to Tyrol for a shop-employee meeting.
This off season, renovating of my house kinda sucks, but hopefully I'll have a kitchen and bathroom around the end of the month. cause poop'n in buckets sucks!
Janine will be in Mexico on Saturday, Mike has to go to the same meeting, and I have no idea what Jason and Ken are doing.
