Benefits of Indo Board?

I was thinking about getting one for x-mas, what are the benefits? I figured I would get info from people that have used it rather than a salesmen or description in a mag.

they help your balance alot, this wont directly help your wakebaording but rather indirectly will. like, your not gonna learn a new trick cuz you indo board. they are a ton of fun and would totlly sugest getting one. however skip the beginner one and go for the mini pro, i love mine and i started out on it.

So I'm thinking....I've got aweful ankles, and I can just picture cracking one and completely missing off-season training altogether.

What are the characteristics of the roller that the board rides on? Is it a foam or some other forgiving surface, or is it rigid?

You'd think if you were paying $160+ it would be hard to reproduce them with household stuff/equipment you already have.

I'm not being rude, I just want to know why they're so expensive, and what they're like before I drop a chunk of change on one.

they def. arent worth 160+ the roller is hard with a rubber grip, the board is a nine ply board with a clear grip tape sorta deal goin on like those kampus wakeskates

Ever try it with a wakeboard (in the bindings)? Ever hurt yourself on it? What kind of stuff can you do/what kind of stuff are you supposed to be able to do?

We used a wakeskate and a basketball, it put a whole new meaning the Ludarics's "front ,back, side to side! but it was alof of fun

what is it? a board with a pivot point that you have to try and stay balanced on?

Just make one. We made a couple this summer. You can get all the stuff at home depot. Cost you about $30. Plus you can paint your own graphics on it.

Bizzerker, its not as fun at all with a wakeboard. o ya and the tricks you can do are grabs and pop-shuvits and stuff.

HyPe4eVeR, Indo boards are great, not only do they improve your balance but there alot of fun too. I just put mine infront of the TV and just do it while watchin TV. If you want to figure out what its like(if you havent done it) then just get a 2 litre bottle, fill it up with water and make sure you fill it up all the way to the top. Then get a pretty thick pretty wide piece of wood that is about the same size as a skateboard deck or if you have a spare deck layin around just use that. Then put the piece of wood on the bottle and try to balance. And there you have it, a poor mans Indo board!

I made my own... I bought a nice thick piece of PVC like 4" diameter cut it about 2 feet long. Then you can make a board out of wood or just throw and old skateboard on it. Oh yeah and you might want to get some skateboarding griptape for the pvc or you'll get some slipage if you know i mean.

What's the difference between a beginner and mini-pro board?

the biegniner has a much smaller roller and the board is almost a complete circle. its fairly lame after a while and gets kind of boring, you are very limited to tricks because of the smaller roller size. the mini pro is shaped more like a mini wkabeoarrd and is designed basically for wakeboarders, the roller is much larger and makes it possible to do bigger ollie tricks shuvits etc.

I know this was an old topic....but I saw this post from Jocko & wanted to share it w/ you all......

Indo's are flat and at any time I can turn the board 90 degrees to the
roller and ride it differently. This opens up a whole new world of 50/50
tricks. I can ride the Indo 50/50, then get my feet into the Hang Ten
position off the nose of the board while it's still 50/50 on the roller and
then press it up into a nosepress and come back down. Yew can't Dew that on
a Vew-Do.

Another thing we do we call Around The World. Start at boardslide, do a
trick, then turn 90 degrees to 50/50, then do another trick, turn 90 degrees
again to boardslide position, etc until you go all the way around the Indo
Board. If you fall, you begin again from the beginning.

Another trick you can do on the Indo Board that yew can't Vew-Do, we stand
the roller up on it's edge and balance the Indo Board on the top, then jump
up to balance on the board and then try to ride it while you topple over the
roller and try to land the board on the roller. Does that make any sense?
I think you might have to come over and see that one. It's pretty intense.
We get some great wipeouts, but it feels sort of like dropping in. It's a
rush.

Balance boards are about finding your Zen and letting your creativity and
imagination flow. I think that the flat bottom of the Indo Board makes it
less restrictive on your creativity. Everyday I come up with another Indo
trick to try. Most of them land me on my ass. But there's always that one
that I land that makes me keep trying.
