The issues I have heard about were the ballast pumps. The impellars were to big and I think plastic MC fixed the problem in the later 2002 models by replacing with smaller metal impellars. I also heard of circuit breakers popping If you filled rear and front at the same time. Last is trailer axle getting out of alignment. All these issues would be fixed under warranty. When I bought my X-star I asked my dealer about all these things. My boat was built late in the year so the ballast problems had already been fixed also I have a 2003 trailer so any trailer issues were fixed as well. _________________ Got Spelling? |

I am having the 2002 x star single axel trailer issue as we speak. the left rear axel broke somehow while in storage, and the fender is sitting on the tire. my dealer is about to replace it as soon as he gets the part in. I want to aske you guys who had the same issue if it was the left axel (observers seat). From what I have heard, only the left axel is defective on that particular trailer model. please give me some feed back. i am skeptive about keeping single axel, or upgrading to tandem.
thanks |

The problem is on the tandem as well. One of the guys at the dealership I bought mine at had a tandem break on the same weekend as me. He had to get it towed from like 350 miles away. Mine was the passenger side as well. There are some specific instructions that did not come with the parts to my dealer and it just broke two days after getting it fixed. I then had to get it into the shop again. Now it has been fine. My first break was two days after bringing the boat home. I got it back two weeks later and it took 3-4 days for the second break. During these times I never took the trailer more than a total of 30 miles. Since then I've put a few hundred and I am confident everything is fine. _________________ I broke a mirror.

Mine was on the (car) passenger side, the front wheel of my tandem trailer.
They replaced both axles under warranty. |

thanks for all the info. mine was sitting at the club for the winter and at some pont the axel broke. the fender is sitting on the wheel. i hope this is the last issue i have with MC, ive already had the impellers changed before a i got the boat, but one of the vinyl skins is growing those pink spots, and when i first got the boat the fuel filter was clogged up! If it wasnt for the prompt service i get from my dealer who is all the way in Mexico City I probably would have sold the boat by now. Ive only put 9 hours on it since Nov-02. |

Who makes the trailers for MasterCraft? Or who's axles are they using?
Are they springs or torque bars? _________________ Hard Work/Work Hard = SUCCESS |

we got our 02 x star, loaded with every option (the guy that bought it spent 55? brand new) we got it nine months later from him, for 40k. I think the blue book on the 02 xstar was 47k w/o trailer according to the insurrance people
Took it out this weekend, had a few problems with the PP (never used one before, and its not calibrated right) other then that, i LOVE it
Cant say anything about the wake, it LOOKS good, but PP said the water was 43 degrees, no thnx ! |

i also have a 2002 x star and mostly its been the impellers in the ballast tanks and now more recently it has been the circut breakers and the cd player will cut off when you hit a double up or someones else's wake.. _________________ Brian R

I've got an 02 X and have had the problems with the ballast pumps since I bought it last July. Texas MCraft replaced the impellers and they're going to add circuit relays to the wiring system at the end of this month. With the relays installed you can't run all 3 pumps at once because it'll out pull the manifold on the bottom of the boat.
I haven't had any problems with the axles (knock on wood) but you guys are making me nervous and I may have them checked when I take it in next time.
Concerning the circuit breaker problem - I've got 4 ion lights on my tower and you can't run the pumps, stereo and lights at the same time. There's a 40amp BUS tied to my battery and if you run all 3 it pops that bus and kills everything but the engine. THis happened the very first time I took it out and scared the bejesus out of me. _________________ I make my guardian angel work harder then yours. |

|

I tried the Mastercraft X-10, 2002 model, had it loaded but someting just wasn't right. The wake was alright, I've had better and the ride itself was a little noisy. The construction of the boat boat is fine, it just transmits water noise through the hull and not enough storage. I thought I was buying a bigger boat but until you load it up with people, gear, ballast and supplies there just wasn't enough.
Unfortunately it was a $50,000 mistake. I decided to shop around and came across TIGE'. Talk about a world of difference. A killer wake with TAPS and no ballast. The new 22V Riders weighs more than anything out there and TAPS WORKS AWESOME. A quiet ride, plenty of storage, 102" beam offerring tons of room for everything. My first trip out all my friends had to come, 12 people, 8 boards, gear and a large ice chest and room to spare. A killer ramp and we pulled off tricks we never thought possible. LIfe plus 10K warranty, hell I hope I have problems in ten years and let TIGE replace the boat with $10,000 cash, but I doubt that will happen.
I was able to sell my X-10 and truly step up. I reccommend everyone try TIGE before they die (same as not being able to board anymore) |
