Wakeboarding is the fastest growing sport at the moment and all these big companies having difficulties with finance and going broke.
What the hell are they doing.

1st thing most company should do is not pay their riders. Free board should be good enough. Maybe travel expense to and from Comps.

2nd Quality of the products, My friend broke 7 O'brien boards within four months

3rd hmmmm I don't know...... hire me

Thats a biased opoinion.
How would the riders pay rent? they wouldnt be making money? And if they got a job then they couldnt train all the time so the caliber of riding wouldnt be as good.

I totally agree with you sean... It simply is crazy to have to train to be able to do a double half cab roll... You gotta have al your time to do that, you can't work and train at the same time, you'll be dead in weeks...l

These companies are owned by companies that don't give crap about wakeboarding. The economy is going down and were about to go to war, they are just protecting their wallets. Also microsoft, I mean hyperlite has the board market on lock down

Derrick Lenz brought up that the riders should be payed by how many of their boards sell. Like Parks gets $20 for every parks board that sells or something along those lines. I think that's a good idea.

How can u say don't pay riders? how much money do you think Hyperlite makes on Scott Byerly boards alone? do think they would sell as many of that shape without his name on them? I'ts a shame he only makes a riders salary and not a percentage of his name products!!!

The problem was not LF or Obrien paying their riders, its that their parent company lost more money than Lf or Obrien brought in, EOS own several differnt companies, and did not manage them all that well. A similar deal happened with ATT a few years back, ATT was making money but the wireless side was losing a ton, so they cut out the areas that wernt profitable to make the rest of the company stronger. I am pretty sure somebody will buck up and buy LF and Obrien.

Noneya, are you a total moron? Seriously?

"No, its not Obien's fault they make boards that snap when you land... Its.. um, the riders fault... He mustn't take care of them"

LF has never turned a profit. ever. They have been bleeding off EOS, they got tired of it.
Obrien was OK until the lawsuit with HO, then last years pre books sucked for everyone due to Expo being Sept 20, 2001, 9 days after WTC. The have been bleeding money ever since.
I will be utterly suprised if someone comes in and buys either. If they do, there will be MAJOR changes to make them profitable.
I would love to see LF come back, but from a biz standpoint who would buy a company that has never turned a profit.
